C-USA — 9 all-sports members. The 9 eastern-most teams currently in the league:
Charlotte
Florida Atlantic
Florida International
Marshall
Middle Tennessee
Old Dominion
Southern Miss
UAB
Western Kentucky

And a new "Southwest Conference" — 8 football members; 9 for Olympic sports:
Louisiana Tech
North Texas
Rice
UTEP
UTSA
New Mexico State
Texas State
UL/Lafayette
*UT/Arlington

That's the only remotely likely re-org I have seen in all these pointless threads.
Danke.

I tried to balance the facts that C-USA doesn't want or need any new/expansion but does want and need (IMHO, of course) a tighter geographical footprint. Maybe that idea will catch on. Time will tell, but I'm convinced there will be some sort of change. Long-term, the status quo is not sustainable.

Top 9 in the poll are my personal top 9. Sounds like many are in agreement - the Eastern schools don't care to be involved with a bunch of Texas schools. One or two, sure, but not the far flung monstrosity that we've become geographically.

Nice to see us get some love considering we were the last ones in. I'll never forget the day CUSA took Tech, FIU, UNT, UTSA, ODU, and Charlotte in the first round of expansion before us. It was laughable then from an on-the-field standpoint, and now it's even more laughable given how irrelevant the 'markets' are from a TV standpoint.

This was my dream G5 conference for awhile, Troy was still winning a ton of football games at that time, I'd swap them for Georgia Southern now.

If the AAC teams didn't want to play, I'd either nix Ohio and stay at 12 or add App to go to 14.

You need to slow your roll.

Don't forget MTSU still has a losing record to North Texas. North Texas still won 4 straight Sun Belt titles, while MTSU was only able to capture a share of 2 Sun Belt Titles. Even since joining C-USA, we are 1-1 versus each other. Also, North Texas has actually won a bowl game for C-USA. MTSU is 0-2 in bowl games since joining. Also, North Texas had 35,000 Mean Green fans show up for our bowl win. So don't act like North Texas was a bad addition, or hasn't produced anything for this conference.

LA Tech and UTSA fans probably won't like your comments either.

Slow your role?

Okay jabroni...

You're fooling yourself if you think Sun Belt titles had anything to do with CUSA invites, where's Troy? They had more than either of us and theirs were more recent.

You had your day in a Sun Belt that was far weaker than it is today and your last title was in 2004. Just to be clear how weak the Sun Belt was, the very next year, a freaking 5-6 ULM team that lost to Northwestern State and got clubbed 38-0 by a 4-7 Wyoming team claimed a share of the title.

In the eleven seasons since your last mighty Sun Belt title you are 36-96 and have won more than 4 games twice, in that same time frame we're 68-66. Neither one of us exactly set the world on fire to be frank, but to make matters worse, I know you're real proud of your 9 win season in 2013, but in the eleven seasons that was the anomoly, you only won more than half that many games one other time and that was just two years prior with 5 wins. Speaking of 2013, be careful not to pat yourself on the back too hard about getting 35k to a bowl game located 40 miles from campus. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a shorter trip to the bowl game than to your campus for a large percentage of those 35k.

You can get butt hurt all you want, but we've had a better football program in the years leading up to the invitations as well as those following them.

This would be an ideal situation. I like this layout a lot. Too bad the AAC is most likely never going to budge unless they get poached

At no point has one head to head matchup ever played into conference realignment. I know what happened back in the early 2000s. No one cares. Booger Kennedy isn't walking through that door.

To be honest, Tech was easily the best add then and now. After that, I would have said UNT makes the most sense given the market and good history of competitive programs in all sports - that comment wasn't the same for all of those teams. After that? Please. UTSA? They haven't done anything. Sure, they have potential, but everyone has potential. I like beating ODU, but I can do without the rest.

This isn't just my opinion. Look at the poll boss.

Which has nothing to do with what we're talking about and if we still played every year I have no doubt we'd have taken the series lead, but UNT, who was our "big rival" when I enrolled at MT, is now an afterthought to most Blue Raiders.

I'm curious, would you rather be 8-6 against us and 36-96 over the last 11 seasons or 6-8 against us and 68-66 over the past 11 seasons? Personally I wouldn't trade ~30 wins against everyone else for two wins against you guys...
