No, it is never a plus for recruiting when you're part of that type of a "renegade program." It will help Baylor's recruiting in the same way being a renegade program helped SMU in the mid 80s after the NCAA gave them the death penalty.

It would be a disaster the likes of which few BU supporters can even fathom. Now, instead of just being an afterthought, they will also be a punchline, a cautionary tale and an evil villain. Nobody wants to be those things.

The only school in the country that thinks it's a good idea for you to do that is Penn State. However, they want you to do that so they can get off the floor and someone else can take some kicks for a while.

RE: Baylor & Briles
So, this was yesterday: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nca.../85984400/

Quote:In a motion filed Thursday as part of the lawsuit, Briles said he wants new attorneys separate from the school, and his personal attorney said Baylor was using the coach as a scapegoat for its failings in handling allegations of sexual assault.

“The conclusion is inescapable that the motive of Baylor and the Board of Regents was to use its head football coach and the Baylor athletic department as a camouflage to disguise and distract from its own institutional failure to comply” with federal civil rights protections, Briles lawyer Ernest Cannon wrote to Baylor’s attorneys in the latest development in a scandal that has gripped the world’s largest Baptist university for months.

Cannon also demanded that Baylor “immediately turn over to me the entire contents of each and every one of their litigation files” — including information given to the Pepper Hamilton law firm that investigated Baylor’s response to assault allegations in recent years.

Guess what happened today? Yep, Baylor practically pushed over small children to run to the settlement table. http://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Briles-...90841.html

Guessing a NDA is part of the settlement.

So in the end, Briles got screwed ... but he'll get a pile of cash for his trouble and his silence. Let things simmer down a couple years, he'll be back coaching somewhere, if he wants to.

I did not ay it was a plus for recruiting and no way does it effect Baylor's recruiting like SMU's was effected. SMU did not recruit anybody for two years.. Also SMU was mostly about breaking NCAA rules....Baylor is about breaking the law.

When the money stopped at SMU players were no longer interested. As long as the sexual assaults go unpunished at Baylor, SOME players will be interested.

All I am saying is some types of players are attracted to a anything goes environment.

RE: Baylor & Briles
I suppose that could prove true in theory but who knows? I do know that's a pretty stupid philosophy if that is their philosophy.

They did the right thing – cutting ties with the coach. It was never going to work after what happened there became public. He is now radio active in his career is very much in jeopardy.

Baylor is so much better off trying to find the "next Art Briles" than they would've been trying to rehabilitate this one.

Nobody ever said all of today's players are smart. Yeah they had to get rid of Briles. Now they should get rid of the staff and start fresh.

Briles can find work if he wants to....scouting etc in the NFL or possibly an assistant. However, with millions in his pockets and at age 60 he might just take life easy.

Shut the program down, get priorities straight and start over in 2/3 years. The story keeps getting worse.

This guy is radioactive. I doubt even ESPN or FOX would hire him as a commentator.

Briles' allegation that Baylor attorneys feigned that they represented him to extract information then used the info gleaned thereby to terminate him is pretty vile in its own right.

Another lawsuit calls Baylor a "hunting ground for rapists":

Dust off, nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

If you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.

Boren: “The conference is going to make some statements about [Baylor], take some actions." That will take place today (Wed, 6/22/16).

Q: Could one of those actions possibly be expulsion from the Big XII? It would be so easy to replace Baylor with, say, Cincinnati. Today will be an interesting day!

If they do? Then they have to expand by 5.

They are not getting kicked out. They will agree to start a no rape rule and everything will be fine.

If only Briles would admit that he scoured his recruiting territory -- interviewing coaches, teachers, parents, ex-girlfriends -- to find that rare combination of raw football talent and sexual assault tendencies that he knew would build a rape-machine in Waco ... then just maybe, people would have some peace.
