Tough 4-game road trip for the Seahawks coming up next week. @ Coastal on Wednesday followed by a 3-game series @ Charleston.

I love it. A good mid-season test. We've been playing well the last three weeks, so playing the defending national champ and our biggest conference competition will be fun.

Should have swept the Tribe, but taking the first two of three in the fashion they did was nice. Felt good.

Big Week For Feight Nets CAA Player-of-the-Week Honor

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW junior Nick Feight was named Colonial Athletic Association Player-of-the-Week Monday after powering the Seahawks to a 3-2 record with wins over Maryland and William & Mary.

Feight belted four home runs on the week and took over the team lead with nine round trippers this season. He also moved into a tie for fifth all-time at UNCW with 31 career home runs.

For the week, Feight hit .381 with a double to go along with those four home runs. He scored nine runs and knocked in nine while extending his on-base streak to 16 games.

The Seahawks split a pair of games with Maryland, which was the preseason Big 10 favorite, and then won their series against defending CAA champion William & Mary. Feight homered in each game against the Tribe.

Feight becomes the second Seahawk to earn CAA weekly honors, joining senior outfielder Casey Golden, who was named Player-of-the-Week earlier this month.

UNCW plays four games on the road this weekend, beginning with a 6 p.m. start on Wednesday at defending National Champion Coastal Carolina. The Seahawks then return to conference play next weekend when they visit the College of Charleston for three games, starting on Friday.

Baseball Preview: Coastal Carolina

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW opens a four-game road swing Wednesday with a 6 p.m. start at Coastal Carolina.

The Seahawks went 3-2 last weekend with wins over Big 10 Conference favorite Maryland and later picking up a series win over defending Colonial Athletic Association champions William & Mary. The wins evened UNCW's record at 11-11 on the season.

Coastal Carolina, meanwhile, dropped a 7-6 decision at nationally-ranked North Carolina Tuesday evening. The Chanticleers had a brief three-game winning streak halted with the loss and enter Wednesday's game at 15-10.

Freshman Zarion Sharpe (0-0) will make his second start of the season for the Seahawks. In his first start, a no-decision versus Maryland, the lefthander struck out five, walked none and allowed a run on two hits over four innings.

Junior catcher Nick Feight powered his way to CAA Player-of-the-Week honors.

Following Wednesday's game, UNCW returns to conference play when it visits the College of Charleston for three games beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
