Such a great university president. Cant fault him if he goes back to his hometown but he will be missed.

Vancouver is supposed to be really nice and his dad used to work there so he was born there. He will certainly do great things for them. Probably my favorite uc president of all time

Very prestigious university in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. We just got Kelly'd. His dream job came calling.

I have been to Vancouver/Victoria many times and it is one of the nicest areas in North America. Matter of fact, British Columbia, the entirety, is a wonderful place to live and/or visit.

Yep, couldn't agree more, one of the greatest places I've een in person on the 5 continents and 31 countries I've visited.

As i said a few months back in a different thread, when Ono goes there should be nothing but commendations and thanks sent his way for what he has done for UC. So thank you Dr. Ono, I am happy I got the chance to meet you and work with you personally and know that you'll continue to be a shining example of what a college administrator shoupd strive to be. Heading back home for an opportunity like this one is something we'd all love to do in our respective industries, now weve got some big, eccentric, passionate, and immensely talented shoes to fill.

Been to BC many times. Beautiful area in summer and great skiing at Whistler in winter. It is hard to say no to going home, same reason Huggy Bear left KSU.

Since Nancy Zimpher bought a place in Cincy perhaps she could be talked into returning. Just kidding. I for one would cut all ties.

I have to assume that maybe Ono has aging parents or another personal reason for deciding to make this move. He seems like a standup guy and wouldn't go back on his 10 year statement without good reason (maybe your hometown school that is ranked #40 in the world is that reason).

Eh -- it's silly to hold anyone to a commitment like that. At the end of the day, this is just a job, and there are a million things that SHOULD be more important to someone than his/her job.

It's still a tremendous loss for the university and the city. Ono was a great ambassador for the region in a city that doesn't like talking itself up.

Hearing from sources that Nancy Zimpher will be returning to Cincy. She has already announced she is leaving SUNY and has purchased a condo at St. James at the Park in Eden Park $775,000 to be near her family and grandchildren.

Remember Gordon Gee left OSU and returned and did the same at WVU. Gee was a mentor to Zimpher when they both were at OSU. So I guess Gee mentored her on the old always leave them wanting more.

Zimpher did an outstanding job setting the stage for her successors, but I don't think she's the right person to replace Ono. Are you kidding with this, trying to stir the pot? I'm surprised she stepped foot back in this city considering the abuse she took.
