I think it would be really pretty to see them plant flowering trees in along the sidewalks.
....

I think originally there was supposed to be a second engineering building between the new one and the library but somewhere along the line, some people wanted to preserve that open space. Here is a link to and updated master plan that shows an addition being added to the new engineering building and leaving the open green space intact.

I've seen that picture, but I thought the old talk about engineering was not being able to build up on the engineering systems building.

Watching the master plan video, I interpret this as the new building is going in that green space

I remember the first time I watched the master plan video, I thought why go through that whole process just to show a different master plan at the end?

The pdf on the website shows the updated version.

Why would you not be able to add on to the engineering building. my senior engineering project (2011) was to add 2 floors to the systems building. It is feasible and the link I provided is not even on top of the building but connected to the side of it. so im not sure what you mean that it cant be done?

I still have the plans from the engineering building... They were given to us for one of my CET classes and I saved it so I could go back and look at it later. Some pretty cool stuff!

I'm guessing to make it look up to date to go along with engineering building built adjacent from it.

They completely renovated the first floor and it now is a really nice student lounge/study/research area that has many conference and presentation rooms. It's really nice if you haven't seen it. The rest of the library looks the same as always though haha, with a couple of cosmetic upgrades here and there. An art student also painted a lion mural on the wall in the 2nd floor I believe

I've been in there a few times. As a music student, unless I was doing music history research assignment or something gen Ed or to do with my minor very rarely would I set foot in the library. More likely to burst into flames now.

Oh man, I lived in that library. The first floor improvements were VERY well welcomed by myself. It would get to the point where I wouldn't see my roommates for days/weeks at a time due to schedules and all that.

Any chance you could show the drawings or rendering of what the systems engineering building would like with 2 extra floors?

I'm interested to. I think it's awesome.
I remember feeling bummed when somebody said it couldn't be built up higher. Glad they were wrong.
