I would like to share this pictures and pictures of the new education building to the people who complain on ODU's sports pages on Facebook that "we shouldn't be wasting money on athletics" or "A university should be a place for higher learning"
I even saw people complain about "your tuition dollars hard at work" on a post about the new football stadium while the title clearly said "without using student fees"
All of that aside I'm upset this wasn't here when I attended ODU! First they put in a campus cookies type store that delivers late night cookies and now they have a place that seems like it will be much better than eating at the Webb 1201 cafe

Just the first of many buildings built you will wish were there when you were an undergrad. That's part of being an alum. However, the new buildings will both signal and give you some pride that it is ever-improving.

ODU changed so much from my first day on campus to the day I walked across the stage and left Norfolk for the last time. Foreman Field was redone, The New Engineering building was completed, the library was renovated, the away locker room was built at Foreman, the new art building and ampitheater were completed while I was there, the renovations to the baseball field and the new indoor batting facility was completed, Diehn was expanded, Dragas was rebuilt, the new eduaction building was being built in my last semeser, those houses on 43rd, while not officially part of ODU's campus, they made 43rd look a lot better while watching a baseball game or walking on the exterior of campus....... The list goes on and on. I'm sure there are things I didn't include but these were off the top of my head. Campus was always a construction site but that is a good thing. It means we are growing. Everybody that I've met that has been to ODU has always told me how beautiful of a campus we have, and I take pride in that. When I first got to ODU school pride was just okay, but as the time went on you could tell ODU's pride and following grew tremendously. Our 2nd year with Heinicke as our QB, I was told by someone that they came to ODU because they liked our football team. that was year 4 of us even having football! Even though I don't live in Norfolk anymore I still miss it and still call it home. I love coming back and seeing how the city and campus have changed since the time I've left

RE: OT / Pics of new residential dining hall.
Thanks paintedblue2 for posting these pictures. It's interesting to see how ODU has developed an architectural style and using it in several buildings. To those of us who can count decades since graduation, it's as though the campus is being systematically torn down, and a new school rebuilt at the same location. At what point does it cease to be the same school? It could be argued that it's "ODU" in name only since I attended.
I came up with a rough count of about 30 new buildings in the 27 years since my graduation - more than one new building per year! And the addition of football has transformed the student experience almost as much as all these new buildings.

I posted in another thread. That pic hosting site throws lots of red flags on my filter at work. Avoid.
It is .ru after all.

I did a search of fastpics.## after you mentioned that Cr8n. It was returned as clear, but in the interest of security for my friends and fellow fans here I have changed to an imgur host. If there is a good host which you can recommend that allows for safe direct image hosting I will switch to that. Thanks.

I use OpenDNS at work as one of our levels of security and they're pretty solid. Plus you're uploading your stuff to a host potentially in Russia so there's that. =]
I was going to recommend imgur.

The school is going to be a construction zone for the next 20 years easy. More than than enough on the master plan to keep them busy.
I can't remember the site right now, but there is a way to look up property values. I wonder how much the school has impacted the values of Highland Park and Lambert's Point. In both real value and property taxes to the city.

Refreshing because very little changed in 97-01 except for the demolition of Burger King, 4400, and others that made way for the Ted. Also, the library was renovated and expanded while I was there so interesting that it was done again 10 years later.

I'm guessing to make it look up to date to go along with engineering building built adjacent from it.

RE: OT / Pics of new residential dining hall.
It's too bad another engineering building is going up between the Engineering systems building and the Library.
I think it would be really pretty to see them plant flowering trees in along the sidewalks.
I'd think cherry blossoms would be nice, but perhaps something blue for school pride or something?
Hell I'd even buy them for the school.
Jacaranda
Royal Empress
Or line Hampton Blvd all the way down so it looks like this.
Our campus doesn't really lend it's self for people to take wedding pictures at like people do at other schools. Hopefully the new Webb will be pleasing to look at. Couple that with some really nice plants and that could happen. Or there would be a lot more really pretty graduation pictures.
