It's important that Americans have access to assault weapons and other high capacity rifles because even though you might get a lot of mass shootings, what if Obummer and his army tries to invade your house, to take away your assault weapons and other high capacity rifles?

While I think that he did it that way, and many LGBT people do too, its not confirmed at this point. Either way, completely crass of Dan Patrick to put that up there this morning.

If it's 50 dead, it's the single worst mass shooting in U.S. history. Current 'record' is 32. A dubious record to be sure. So sad. My oldest brother is on the last day of an AIDS ride in California - I'm sure all the bike riders out there are devastated.

The problem is that every time a mass shooting happens, conservatives give their boilerplate condolences and say "now is not the time" to talk about the gun issue, then after a few days it fades from the news cycle and memory.

Rinse, repeat. Time after time, month after month. It's a diversion tactic, but it works for them.
