It's Reaching High School's Now
11 HS NCs and now they get an SMU type death penalty

Bellevue football banned from postseason for 4 years

• Found a “preponderance of evidence” that Bellevue illegally recruited athletes to the school and coordinated payments for athletes, and that Bellevue failed to self-report money provided to players’ families.

• Found a “preponderance of evidence” that Bellevue boosters paid the tuition of athletes at The Academic Institute.

• Agreed with Bellevue’s conclusions that athletes used false addresses to gain eligibility, and that payments were made to coaches without approval from the school district.

• Accepted a Bellevue resolution that it will not renew contracts for two years of coaches who violated the WIAA rule that stipends and gifts of more than $500 must be approved by the school board.

From a different article:
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA), as reported in this story by the Seattle Times, found Bellevue administrators ignored rules violations as the football program racked up 11 state titles since 2001. (Notably, it also got an overtime win against Euless Trinity in 2012 when the Trojans traveled to Seattle to play Bellevue. Bellevue also ended Concord (Calif.) De La Salle's 151-game winning streak back in 2004.)

Haha that happens all the time in HS. Hell I even knew track and cross country teams that recruited people. Or it just happened to be a coincidence that all of the fast foreign exchange students ended up at one school...

Sometimes you don't have to recruit. Sometimes your local college will get a company to recruit their momma.

Yeah, I only picked up on the story because Jake Langi (former GA now in recruiting office) posted it. He went to Euless Trinity.

Little school in northeast Arkansas used to get BB players whose dad's were preachers. New preachers every two or three years it seems. LOL.

Whole new level of losers. Honestly that is just vanity out of control. I know it has been going on with promises of playing time forever in every sport just about but actually paying tuition and gifts....get a life. College football even at the G5 level is dealing with millions of dollars at stake which does not excuse it but it makes some sort of sense. That is just for cheap trophies.

Private schools give "scholarships".

Met with an old gentleman once about 100 miles from my home town of Valdosta. Sitting in his office you couldn't help but notice all the Valdosta High school Wildcat photos and trophies. Quick to find conversation with the old business owner I mentioned that I was from Valdosta. He laughed and said I never lived there I just played football for the high school. That's how you win 26 state championships.

Years down the road, cities still hang banners from their championship run. The sell State Championship merchandise. Their city's name is plucked from obscurity (especially in remote parts of the state) and because known as a powerhouse to outsiders. Years down the road, the townsfolk remember the finished sausage, not how it was made.

The administrators and coaching staff responsible for these runs get to keep their jobs and establish a legacy as "winners" in the eyes of the community. If they are unhappy with their location, they can leave their dynasty and continue to climb on to bigger (and higher paying) jobs.

Nothing new. This happened 30 years ago in Georgia high school athletics when I was a high schooler.
