RE: New Stadium Thread
Yeah. We can disagree till we're blue in the face. But at the end of the day we have a new stadium that will be top of the line and we'll all continue to go the games and we'll continue to grow as a program. Maybe not as fast as most would like, but we'll still move forward. Some just won't ever be happy, and that's fine. See ya'll at the game.

Yeah, I wish we had a new scoreboard as well. Those things seem to cost a fortune which is probably why we keep the old one for now.

All those 50k+ stadiums are all bleacher and just big.
And those schools with the big, bad, no chair back stadiums really have a tough time attracting recruits. I am not talking about P5's either. ECU plays a much higher brand of ball then we do and has bleachers. So does Memphis, Boise State, and the list goes on and on.
The stadium will be very nice. No doubt about it. But the players we recruit don't care about how comfortable our game day experience is. They want as many people yelling their name and being seen on TV as much as possible.
This stadium shouts "CAA" all day long.
Our fans care about chairback seats.
Watching us square off vs FIU and UNT for all eternity. Whhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
And VT, UVA, NC State, etc.

A) Not having football

B)Playing Elon.
Probably not for long once they see this plan.

AV is stupid expensive. I spent about 15k dollars on a tiny 12 person office on A/V consultants to do the wiring, design, and on the hardware alone.

That PDF has some really shocking information in it. This stadium is way more than just 22k seats.
The build out to 30k shows us beating VT on the scoreboard!!! Lets just hope that doesnt take 20 years for phase two!

They all agreed to play ODU at "old" Foreman Field. How would this discourage them from playing at the "new" Foreman Field?

VT probably has more fans attend the average road game than the entire capacity after this $55M renovation. We might be able to keep Wake Forest, but not VT, UVA, and not likely NC State either.

Interesting that we are going to be well above average in patio suites (60) and club seats (1000). Both figures are ~double CSU and new collegiate stadiums.
Survey indicated a 27% attendance bump despite and average national attendance bump of 9%.
Goals included flexibilty to expand (HUGE) and maintaining current atmosphere.
I was looking at those figures on the PDF as well. I'm not sure if these are the figures agreed to in the contract, or if some of these (and/or how many) are included in phase 2.
Premium seating (patio suites, Club seating, and luxury suites) will increase in number from 894 to 1,904. The revenue increase from what we are currently generating will be over an additional $2M per year. This is a significant increase in revenue for any G5 school.

You'll never see phase two. Once recruits see this teensy-weensy stadium they'll head elsewhere. Fans will recognize the administration had no faith in the program and they'll give up their season tickets, and the whole thing will go into a death spiral. Within ten years we're back in the FCS.

Agreed. The revenue from those areas will really go a long way towards getting are student fees smaller and smaller. But... we shouldn't build this and we should just go back to FCS.

The current agreement with VT is that only 2018 is set in stone and the other two games to be played in Norfolk are based on the new stadium being built. IMO, I think we will rightfully back out from playing you guys in the other two games because this simply isn't big enough. ODU needed to build for 27-28K capacity minimum. Your leadership is thinking small. And the location choice is nothing short of disastrous because the largest you can ever expand is about 30K.
IMO, you guys would have been better off collaborating with Norfolk State about refurbishing and sharing Dick Price Stadium.

Looking at the numbers at the final build:
West Bowl: 7750
East Bowl: 7750
N. Lower Bowl: 3500
N. Upper Bowl: 2700
East Upper Deck: 6400
Total 24950
Not including suites and patio loge's
Guessing that in the NW corner gets a second level it would probably add another 2700 or so.
So 27650 Max before suites are factored in.
Anything larger than that would probably mean a 3rd floor on the West side. Doubt we could fit any seats in the NE corner.

That's what I'm anticipating. Everyone on here unhappy will stop donating and give up their tickets for someone happy to be there. Wait, no it won't everyone will continue to come to the games and enjoy the new top of the line stadium. But, can't please everyone.

You might want to run those figures again. They equal 28,100. Add the 1,904 premium seats and it is 30,004.

I think your addition is off. The total of the numbers here is 28,100, not 24,950. If you add the NW corner second level is 2700 then that gets you over the 30,000. FIFY
