RE: Clergeot a Tiger
Some folks want it both ways.

When Pastner's teams weren't performing, some said he can't make the players make shots, grab rebounds, work hard, etc. and that performance was on the players.

When talking about Cal and the Missouri game though, it's not the players, but that the coach checked out and didn't coach the way he was supposed to.

Which one is it guys - the players or the coaches?

Let us know, so we know who to blame when the Tigers lose a game under Tubby and the boys.

Interesting. Haven't you done the exact same thing in the past? Bash the players for shooting poorly one game...then turn around and crucify the coach the next week?

Dude hit a halfcourt shot before halftime against the Tigers.

It wasn't as if they lost to a slaw team and it wasn't as if Memphis had been world beaters all season either.

I don't know if Cal did or didn't "throw" the game against Missouri, but folks act like Memphis lost in the Sweet 16 to 16 seed State.

this is the common sense stuff I was talking about. Only a few of us left that are blessed with it apparently.

But PoopDreams is convinced that the 1985 loss against Detroit was fixed. Not only is he convinced, he says it is IMPOSSIBLE that it wasn't fixed. IMPOSSIBLE.

I'm convinced

It’s an honest observation – if your ‘shooters’ don’t brickhouse the first half, then no one is nearly as embarrassed today.

You can go over every other aspect of the game – fouls to rebounding to shooting early in the shot clock to turnovers to whatever – but the guards missed 75% of their shots, which was the biggest detriment.

I should've blamed Pastner in 2013 instead of players in that private correspondence to avoid having egg on my face now?

It was stupid then and would be stupid in this instance. The thing I find fascinating is that none of the folks who were up in arms then seem to mind now. Sports. Fanatics. Lack of common sense.

Getting mad about a coach employed by a school using that schools funds to recruit players to play for him while he was the coach at the school and then offering the same kids to play for him after becoming the coach at a different school is a non starter. The kids should get to play where they want to play.

But not really coaching in an NCAA game while still employed by the school you are coaching in the NCAA is a starter.

Oh dear god. The "Cal threw the Missouri game" line is back in play.

Is that really still a thing people actually believe?

Like I said....... Sports. Fanatics. Lack of common (or any apparently) sense.

You think he threw the game? I haven't heard that one. You must lack common ( or any apparently) sense. I just watched him on the bench. To summarize he really didn't coach like he did in the past. It was obvious he had checked out. If you can't understand the difference then you are as you seem.

Yeah right.

Could you provide an example of what seemed like him "checking out?" He nearly got run for arguing with the refs.

Still waiting to hear the opinion of some of the other holed up rabbits. Are they going to be able to support Tubby now that he has shown he will "stoop" to the same level as Cal?

Wtf are you even talking about.

which part do you not understand? I can break it down for you.

-Cal leave Memphis and takes kids he recruited to Memphis with him to Kentucky.
-some folks on mt.org lose their **** over Cal doing so and call him everything under the sun
-fast forward 7 or 8 years and Tubby leaves tech and takes kids he recruited to tech to Memphis.
-those same fans will not even broach the subject and have gone into hiding when asked to explain the difference*

*the few that have decided to chime in have shifted the subject to Cal throwing games and Derrick Rose causing us to go on probation.

I know it is really hard to follow so I hope the recap helps.

100% agree. I don't care if he goes all UL and brings all the girls from Platinum out of retirement.

As for return on your entertainment dollars, not sure I have seen a bigger smiles on your face than the one I saw in San Antonio.

At a place like Memphis you should be able to consistently put together top 20 recruiting classes.

With nothing in the works when Josh was here, and Tubby managing his schollies at a low-tier Tech job, there was no pipeline. With no pipeline in 2015 and early 2016, you ain't getting a top 20 class in summer 2016.
