None of it will matter when we're #1 at 11-0

right or wrong, reality is, you get penalized more for a late season loss than you do an early season loss.

an L in that game could cost us a seeding place in the playoffs.

I don't give the committee any credit for overlooking that sort of thing and ignoring it. We will get punished if we lose.

Yep and you just don't want a likely loss hurting any moment going into the playoffs.

Likely a physical game. More reason to hope for a first round
Bye in playoffs.

It seems like NDSu had a fairly late
Season loss this year and still got second seed.

2020, won’t JMU have made a move up announcement by then?...

If Houston is still in Harrisonburg, we’ll beat The Cheaters in Cheating Hill in 2020.

It has made the difference in teams shifting in the seedings. There have been examples of it in the recent past.

Prior 5 seed drops to a 6 seed after losing to P5 in final week. Prior 6 seed becomes 5 seed when they played a conference cupcake the same week.
What do you mean by ‘prior’ seed? What teams and when are you talking about?

They releasing seedings for the final 3 or 4 weeks. The previous week’s seed.

There was no previous week's seed. After the Week 9 games the committee released their 1st Top 10. After the Week 10 games the committee released their 2nd Top 10.
They then skipped a week- after the week 11 games they didn't release another Top 10. After the week 12 games they set the field.
FWIW in the 2nd top 10 Wofford was #8. Wofford then beat Samford & lost to S Carolina & were seeded #7.

Regardless, the committee's rules on the SRS state I-A losses don't count & whether or not losses come early or late in the season makes no difference.

Quietly, the NSU road game has been set for a 6pm kickoff. It's happening, guys! You can stop holding your breath now after all of these years.

My curiosity is going to get the best of me to know how many who live in the Harrisonburg bubble make the three hour trip. I have no fear that those outside the bubble will go if they have no conflict, but those who have no objection to playing a cupcake and normally spend no more than 4 - 5 hours of a Saturday afternoon to watch the Dukes and do a little tailgating, will they give up 10 - 12 hours of their day for that same OOC cupcake? I seriously doubt we'll have many takers. I believe most fans will be that same traveling base who give up their weekend to see us play a game in BFS. Tickets should be about $20.

Thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to this game. Of course, I look forward to all of 'em I admit.

According to this morning's paper, we can add home games versus St. Francis and Morgan St to the 2019 skej.

Future FB Schedule (currently 2018-2020)
https://jamesmadison.rivals.com/news/suc...ling-tough

Scheduling article put out by Madia this morning after speaking with Kevin White.

2019 home games against St. Francis and Morgan State announced along with a date for the 2020 home game against Chattanooga.

Still no firm dates for UTC, SFU and MSU in 2019 but you can probably assume they’re weeks 2-4. I hope one of those OOC home games is before the UTC road game so we don’t have to start the season with two road games.

Original post updated to reflect the changes.

Future FB Schedule (currently 2018-2020)
I’m paraphrasing in my own words.

Interesting that we’ve had talks with Louisville, Pittsburgh and Maryland. We also got a low balled payment offer from Connecticut that we had to walk away from.
Odu, Liberty, uva and VT all won’t entertain scheduling us the past few years.
He said the overwhelming majority of G5 won’t even consider us and he has to talk to P5. Some even complain we play too physical.
We are also talking to NDSU for an fcs kickoff game but it would replace an FBS game that year. Smart idea IMO. You need to schedule to make the playoffs.

mention in the article of Louisville, Pitt and Maryland as potential P5 opponents that JMU is working on. They are also going to check in on VT (Michigan just cancelled a series with the Hokies).

RE: Future FB Schedule (currently 2018-2020)
If I understand this correctly, JMU has scheduled the following home games for 2018 and 2019 (all other home games are scheduled by the CAA)

Robert Morris
St Francis
Morgan State

That is embarrassing. I don’t know if it is possible to do a worse job in scheduling home games. If you were intentionally trying to get the 3 worst home games, who would outdo that trio? What is the value of single game tickets and season tickets now? Much lower for me as I don’t and won’t attend these types of scrimmages.

I hate the quote in the article “It is my job to get us in the playoffs”.
No it isn’t. That is coach Houston’s job.

Scheduling like a wussy is not becoming of a program that should be elevating.
These games provide zero value to the players, zero value to the program, zero value to the paying fans, zero value to donors.
Is there any other sports program at JMU that has a weaker OOC home schedule?

Is anyone happy with the 3 home OOC games JMU has locked in for 2018 and 2019?
Let me know your thoughts. Maybe I am missing something here.

Meh. First world problems...

If nobody will play us then I don’t know what else can be done. It’s been known for years NDSU refuses to give a return game outside of Fargo so that isn’t happening either.

Given the strength of the CAA schedule I don’t expect them to agree to bad deals and am glad to see that they won’t. I really don’t see an answer outside of moving up to FBS so it’ll just be whoever we can get until CAA play starts early in the year.

I’ll take this problem compared to the alternative.

NDSU went to EWU and Montana for home and homes in the past few seasons.

Also had H/H's setup with other programs who backed out like Montana State twice.

Here's what you need to know - NDSU has a scheduling philosophy. 6 (this year we have 7. We're spoiled!) home games every year. The boosters expect it. When we can't have 5 home games we "accept it" for a FBS game. However those FBS schools are becoming harder to schedule...as you guys are finding out - they don't like to schedule you when it's going to be a tough test.

I have come to expect OOC cupcakes because, outside of the MVC and 4-5 other West Coast teams, the FCS is cupcakes. Would love to see a ND St kickoff game or a H&H with a MVC team but, until then, just gotta suck it up, tailgate and root.
