Conf TV Dollars - Virginia Pilot - $2.8 mil/year
So, this is a bit concerning (esp. in light of the more recent discussions that the per year number was not too bad): $2.8 million per year (about $200,000 per member).

SMH.

Oh my.

Also a little disappointed at the limited number of games allocated to ESPN3.

If this is true then I need to eat crow and do some major back peddling. Contrast this report with the BG paper's report. Stark.

What the hell numbers is our AD looking at then? So confused, tweeted to our Local Newspaper writer, maybe he has an explanation? Somehow doubt it but we will see...9 million to 2.8 million is either a straight up lie or our AD is completely out of touch with our new TV deal...Either way disappointing to say the least...

Don't despair. The pattern is another wildly different valuation will come out in a few days. Its like dueling beat writers. Its really been kinda bizarre. You often see some slightly differing numbers---but the range here has been pretty wide.

If this turns out to be correct , then that means the WKU AD straight up lied to their new beat writer. Damn

Do games that are broadcast on other ESPN channels that are simulcast on ESPN3 included in the ESPN3 10 game figure? If so (or even if not) we got a bad bad bad streaming deal.

I can already hear the Sun Belt board squealing in delight.

Somebody needs to forward this article to the WKU AD. Someone is not telling the truth. I want it to be this article, but I fear it is the WKU AD.

Trying to find a spec of humor in all of this -- and this guy came to mind:

This is why I was concerned. ODU seems to have legit writers imo. They have been accurate and do their research.

This seems more realistic to me.....unfortunately.

The 10 game ESPN3 figure was the most disappointing thing to me in this entire article.

I find it hard to believe our AD is that far off? Todd Stewart is a pro and the best AD we have ever had, cannot believe he would throw out numbers like that if not true?

Selig said 9 million too. He didn't clarify if it was per year of life of the contract but either way it'd be more than 200,000/school/year. Somethings got to be missing.

Yeah but is it possible that there was just a misunderstand of the question. Maybe the AD thought he was asking about the old contract?

I never thought anyone straight up lied, but was concerned with this being a new beat writer and all.

OUr guy is not new, he has been at the paper for a year...He quoted
"new CUSA TV Deal" 9 million a few days ago...

Either way Brad responded to me just now on twitter...Here is what he said "I'm told figure of $9 million is total value, which includes productions costs for TV. Other figure is cash given to schools."

Either way 9 million minus 2.8 million seems to me still does not add up, but hey I am not an accountant so have no idea where they are getting this 9 million figure from...Bottom-line somehow looks like we are getting crumbs...

Talking heads now quoting Harry on Twitter saying this is the new reality now of smaller conferences...So for those other G5 celebrating this is not good for your leagues either...Looks like P5 is getting what they want in the end...My prediction about 40 schools are going to another division soon in football....

Not that our conference office cares about the fans or anything but our commish should clarify this at least for the media. She doesn't have to give specifics about the various contracts but at least formally give out the overall annual figure so that the speculation can die down. What else does she have to do right now?

That is not clear at all.

Is she earning her paycheck ?

Followed up asking where the $6.2 million dollar difference is going?
