OT - Bridge Replacements
Up on the state wide BX/Ohio bidding system this morning:

City of Toledo is taking bids on replacing the Bancroft Street bridge over the Ottawa River (next to the 7-Eleven and old Stein n Pitcher), and the Secor Road bridge over the Ottawa River (west campus entrance next the Law Center).

First report was today and does not mention start or completion dates.......

Anyone got any updates on the new bridge going in on main campus right now?

There is a lot of stuff going on at the main campus these days? I also read a story that the library is undergoing a $6M renovation in two phases and that walls will be cut open to add large windows for some of the study floors.

The last library renovation is a terrific work. Extremely inviting atmosphere and reflects the change in study needs and styles from books to computers. I guess the new one is to continue that work. Still, I miss those old wood shelves, tables, chairs and real books. Not many consider keeping at least one room old-fashioned.

New campus bridge: lucky there hasn't been bunches of run-overs on that old narrow bridge. Look forward to being able to cross the OR without stepping into the street.

In regards the the library, I read that the current library renovation ecompases making two more floors very modern and inviting. Then later in the year they will start on another phase that may include cutting holes into the outside walls to add large windows for natural light.

I regards to the new bridge, I saw the renderings and the columns are going to be stone with lights on top with very wide sidewalks. I believe the entire thing was designed by UT engineering students? It should look great!
