RE: 14 really great teams that didn't win championships
I see Memphis made the list. I'm surprised the 82-83 Houston Cougars team wasn't on that list. They had 2 players who were HOF and ended their NBA careers as Top 50 all time. That had to be the most talented men's basketball team to not win a title.

I agree, the 82-83 team was the best. Houston probably had the best back to back NCAA bb teams in a row back then not to win it. Unfortunately, 2 of the best Tiger teams ever met them prior to the Final 4 both years.

Interesting that only one coach was on the list twice.

I know I'm a little biased, but the 1985 Cardinals could be on that list. Vince Coleman, Willie McGee, Tommy Herr, Ozzie Smith, Jack Clark, Terry Pendleton, Andy Van Slyke, and John Tudor, Joaquin Andujar, Bob Forsch, and Danny Cox in the starting rotation.

That means he had great teams. Winning NCAA championships takes a little luck-was Villanova best team this year? No but they won it. Many instances in CBB.

Either 83 Houston or 91 UNLV should be number 1.

Means his bag man did a better job getting the players than he did with the players.

Well we know one coach that will never be on that list

After all these years, I just realized they didn't wipe out that one loss off the books. I'm late, but that's crap.

Maryland's teams in the early 70s with Elmore, McMillen and Lucas should be on the list along with the USC teams in the early 70s. That was back when only one team from a conference made the tourney

That also could mean he choked twice when all the marbles were on the foul line.

Guess you could call Dean Smith, Roy Williams and others chokers.

The 91 UNLV team won a championship as the 1990 UNLV team.

By that measure, the 1986 Chicago Bears should be on the list.

Houston 83 and "Texas's Tallest Fraternity" Phi Slama Jama should be first or second.
