The link says the big 12 will only play 8 conf games and not 9 if I read it correctly?
Cheers!

It didn't say they would play 8 conference games, only that expanding to 12 with 8 conf games is the best hope.

Ok, A 10 team conference HAS to play a round robin schedule (9 games) to host a CCG correct?

Correct. But even with division they can play 8 conf games, but that isn't what seems to be happening from the info out there.

The game will be in New Orleans, home of the next member, Tulane; New Orleans' Sugar Bowl is also tied to the Big 12.

if they break into divisions they only have to play a divisional round robin and the winners of the divisions must be in the CCG

if they stay without divisions they must play a full conference round robin and the highest ranked teams must be in the CCG

Wrong. Conferences with fewer than 12 teams must play conference round robin to have a conference championship game.

The Big12 works backwards and favors whatever doesn't make sense.

All while UT does the raping within their conference and Baylor finds other alternatives in keeping up with Daddy (UT) outside.

Nope. You can have a round robin of the whole conference or you can break into divisions. There is no longer a minimum number teams needed to break into divisions for a CCG. That rule is gone. An 8 team conference could break into 2 4-team divisions of it wants.

Sounds like a no brainer to make divisions, so I expect they keep round robin.

They will keep round robin because it will allow every Big12 school to play both OU and UT yearly. That means a lot to the other 8

Maybe it's just me but divisions seem to indicate that expansion is on the way.

If so, the added schools will likely be chosen on the basis of location and brand rather than market size.

you have it backwards if they are staying with 10 teams and 9 conference games

with 10 teams and 9 conference games and no divisions they have the ability to match the two highest ranked teams in the CCG

if they break into divisions with 10 teams and are still stupid enough to play 9 conference games then they would be in the terrible position of having to place the division winners in the CCG even if a team in the other division has a much better record and is higher ranked

divisions make sense when you play fewer conference games and the fewer the better because that reduces the chance for a rematch and it increases the chance that you could have two undefeated teams or an undefeated team and a 1 loss team or two highly ranked 1 loss teams in the CCG and then either CCG winner would have the best chance at the playoffs
