Jakes is problematic tonight due to the basketball playoff game. We are talking about setting up a tv in the corner of their main room. Anyone have a connection at Gorgeous Gale? Or BWW?

I'd say try the Gael, but the NBA Finals are going to make it problematic everywhere.

For that very reason, the best bet might be a restaurant rather than a typical sports bar. Here are a few that might work:
Little Big's on Montrose
Black Walnut on Memorial
Genghis Grill on SW Freeway -- home of the Wayne Graham Radio Show!

RE: Regional Watch Parties
Nice work, Jim!

I posted these details on Facebook:

Quote:RICE BASEBALL WATCH PARTY TONIGHT (Sunday) IN HOUSTON!
v. LSU
7:00 pm (or so)
La Fiesta Restaurant & Cantina
9427 Katy Freeway
(Hedwig Village Center, between Bunker Hill & Echo Ln)
http://lafiestahouston.com/#locations2

In the Facebook posts I also uploaded a Rice baseball image which I had copied from here: https://twitter.com/RiceOwlsBSB
Otherwise, Facebook pulls up images from La Fiesta's website showing plates of food -- nothing wrong with that, but not the effect I was going for.

I'm in, although I'll be a touch late. Do you have everything you need -- does La Fiesta have wifi?

La Fiesta is not easy to find the first time: it is at the very western end of the strip center, behind the Office Max and around the back (not visible from the road or even from the front parking lot). But we're here, we've got a great space and the TV is on!

By the way, the restaurant at the front of the strip center is BWW. Take a hard right there and go back as far as you can to get to La Fiesta.

Huge props to Jim Hruzek for arranging La Fiesta. It worked perfectly -- good space, very accommodating, good food and excellent service. Much better than any situation we would have at a conventional "sports bar". And many thanks to the dozen-plus fans who came out.

Go Owls!
