A few weeks ago HBO premiered their LBJ biopic starring Bryan Cranston. I finally caught it last night, and regardless of what I thought of the guy as president, the movie was pretty well-acted and paced as a film. Anyone else catch it?
I wish HBO did more biopics about presidents, the Harry Truman one starring Gary Sinese was pretty good as well. Andrew Jackson, Ulysses Grant, and Teddy Roosevelt would also be great choices for a movie, there's probably enough material out there to even make a mini-series like they did with John Adams a while back.

I saw the play when it came thru Houston. That was really good.
LBJ was a very complicated man. Personally crass, ruthless, and vindictive, but one that accomplished a ridiculous amount of critical legislation. The Civil Rights Act. The Voting Rights Act. Medicare.
And then he threw it all away with doubling down in Vietnam.
LBJ has one of my favorite all-time political quotes: "Being president is like being a ******* in a hailstorm. There's nothing to do but to stand there and take it."
I saw it. LBJ was one of our most interesting Presidents. He accomplished a hell of a lot of positive things as well. All presidents have their downside and Vietnam was his.

He will, I knew that after watching the first 15 minutes of it. Also, whoever did the makeup will win an Emmy as well. It was phenomenal work, it was uncanny how much he looked like LBJ.

....just in case people aren't familiar with the real cranston....
joe barlow...a.k.a. the cw tmz wannabee sleaze interviewer: "how would you summarize your emotions just standing here with me today?"
cranston: "abject boredom?!"
cranston coming with it straight out of the trump playbook......
the 2nd one explains how the hollywood ilk almost always enjoy taking their foot out of their arse and licking it like a lolly.....
let's see if a dim0-dem can compare/contrast the trump/cranston hypocritical parallel....and own it....cranston obviously cannot....it's obvious he did actually absorb and understand the teachings from lbj's hem-haw tactics....
disclaimer: I have serious doubts that one dim0-dem has a clue what my point actually is....
spoiler for the dim0-dem dense witted: lbj was as much of a bad-ass as cranston at breaking down and solving real world issues....
knee-jerk opine o'day is all dem heroes that help promote zeroes understand....
just for shites and gigs, let's toss in rob's version of reality....
Quote:"During the '60s, I was a hippy [sic] and Lyndon Johnson was my president … and the target of most of my generation's anti-Vietnam War anger. But, as time has passed and my understanding of political realities has grown, I've come to see LBJ in a very different light. He was a complex man — a combination of brilliant political instinct, raw strength, ambition, and deep insecurities."
god bless 'murica.....
his opinion is a relevant as michael moore's 'row a boat tug rubs'......

You do realized he only passed the Civil Rights Act by being drug kicking and screaming into signing it? The CRA was basically one that if he could have found anyway around signing, it was that one. I forget what his compromise was on that one (I want to say Medicare, but don't remember for sure)
Voting Rights Act. I'm not sure...I'd have to go do some research on how willing he was to agree to that one.

Ike....the last non-politician to hold that office....talk about a true american hero at every level of service....
