Best chance of advancing to Super Regional
who do you think has the BEST CHANCE OF ADVANCING? Not necessarily who do you want or hope will advance but which team has the best chance of advancing in your opinion

I voted La Tech because they are scrappy and this is the time of the year to be scrappy. Hopefully they will knock MSU out.

RE: Best chance of advancing to Super Regional
I like FAU's chances as their 1st round opponent Long Beach St is flying cross country and playing what would be a 10:00 AM start for them (1:00 PM ET). FAU started the season with with 2 wins at #6 Mississippi St, then lost 2-1 at #1 Florida mid-season, along with splitting a pair of mid-week games with #3 Miami. They only played 3 games in the CUSA tournament so their pitching should be well rested.

I voted USM, because they have the best regional and are CUSA champions.

I voted FAU. Ole miss doesnt live up to their rpi and Tulane is no where near tulane of old. We started kids againt them that wont see the mound again this year.

BUT with Rice's pitching they could win that regional. I want to see the beast throw against the Tigahs

Not sure what you're talking about. FAU is in the Miami regional.

The Oxford region is Ole Miss, Tulane, BC, and Utah.

RE: Best chance of advancing to Super Regional
Because we didn't face FAU during regular season I am still a little uncertain about their pitching. Not saying they aren't good, I iust don't know. Rice has very good starting pitching and seems like their bats got going during the tournament. LSU is a young team and after their ACE are good but beatable. If Duplainter was to face them in game 2 for a chance to go 2 and 0 I really like Rice's chances. I know very little about FSU and the other teams in that regional but do know USM has lots of talent, the high the ending of their season was a bit awkward. Are there lots of concerns about playing on the road or was the FIU trip just a farse?

All that being said I picked Tech because emotion.

That's typical Southern Miss.......just when we have something big in our grasps we tend to let it slip away from us 9 times out of 10.

I just tossed back another 'pee-ber' for you guys....

it's been really cool to sit back and enjoy what you guys have been doing with all three programs of late...(shhhhhh, don't tell EE)

it wasn't long ago that southern miss was doing much of the same when fedora/Corky yielding to Berry/LE were all at the helm generating much of the same type of success....

I also have to go homer and give Berry an attaboy for responding to the last few years of harsh scrutiny he has received by many (I still hammer him on small ball 2nd to 3rd with 0 outs and some pitching moves he still makes)

many arguments can be made for who should be the cusa coach of the year this season....the conference as a whole should be proud how it has performed....

so, after all that hoo-hockey horse puckey, good luck to all cusa teams this weekend! just win baby!

Picked USM, but frankly, it looks like a toss-up to me. Good luck to all, and certainly wish the Monarchs were in it with you.

So do all of us. Dup would be pitching to see if can rise from 2nd round to 1st round in the upcoming draft....but Blake Fox has to do his job first, and SELA is a darn good all-around team, with the first team all-american 1B and the 6th best ERA in the nation.

RE: Best chance of advancing to Super Regional
Chances of advancing to Super Regional according to Boyd's World ISR:

USM: 26.1%
FAU: 16.8%
Rice: 16.1%
LA Tech: 9.9%

Interestingly however, Boyd estimates that Rice has the best chance (6.4%) of making it to the CWS. I think this has to do with the fact that we are paired up with NC St., who will be threatened in their regional by Coastal Carolina.
