2016-17 bowl projections
I know, I know: another thread I'm starting that makes people roll their eyes and wonder what my problem is. 03-wink

But at least one projection is out, so I thought it might be worth discussing.

College Football News has the Rockets headed for the Bahamas to face Western Kentucky. Story's dated May 8th.

That's the one MAC bowl game I'd be able to attend so I hope it works out that way.

Hate the Bahamas! Hoping for the Miami Beach Bowl(Yes, it has a retractable dome).

That was a freak weather system. I've never seen that kind of rain, late December in S Fl. I bought one of the cheap stadium ponchos which latest about 5 minutes. Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the Rocket victory and at least it wasn't a cold rain.

The Orange Bowl would be a heck of a lot better.

I still remember when they went to commercial and it wasn't raining, then it POURED during the commercial, and it had stopped by the time the commercial was over. I don't think I had ever been more soaked! Of course I had forgotten my new rain jacket I bought during the season. I had to throw my clothes in the dryer at the hotel before my flight the next day.

It also seemed like the rain came in sideways when we had the ball and stopped when Temple had it...felt that way the entire 1st half. I was drenched...it was well worth it though.

RE: 2016-17 bowl projections
My dad and I were at the game as well. I was driving, so he came to my house and we left from there. He brought over a couple of very nice rain ponchos that folded into themselves. I didn't bother to open/inspect them because my dad said they were ponchos. I had pulled out a couple of my heavy plastic ponchos that I bought from Disney, they have hoods and the plastic goes down to your knees. Anyways, he wanted to use his new ponchos. I said fine and left my plastic ones behind.

So...we get to the game and the showers start just before game time as we are heading into the stadium. We whip out our ponchos to find out that...they are not ponchos but jackets. My dad had not actually opened them either!!! Needless to say, we both got SOAKED!!!

Moral of the story, plastic ponchos are always better.

I think they're projected in the Toilet Bowl with Kentucky.

Bowl projections from the guy at CBSsports.com after week 2. Has the Rockets going to the St. Petersburg Bowl on Dec. 26th to meet South Florida.

MAC 1 vs Sun Belt 2? Gawd, how awful. Not that they necessarily pit them by the default settings, but still.

No way a 13-0 WMU or Toledo is going to be playing a 8-4/7-5 South Alabama for a bowl.

I think by the end of the season UT, will have a better bowl game then the Bahamas bowl, against some hick team from Kentucky.

No surprise here, I guess, but some under .500 teams will be bowling, according to ESPN.

FWIW, cbssports.com has UT going to Boise

RE: 2016-17 bowl projections
Generally I'd be pretty excited about those bowl line-ups except I'd gladly play Boise St anywhere but Boise, somewhere in Texas maybe for a change of pace and anywhere I don't have to hear another Doctor Pepper or Guico commercial, whose appeal (if it exists) totally baffles me.

Man. IMO the Potato Bowl is the worst Bowl ever created. Who wants to play a in Idaho? Dumb.

It's 20 years old so the math on that one isn't too hard. It's not a bad location if it were held in some season that took advantage of the location and it's a great opponent. Attendance should be good. Athletes home for Christmas... I suppose there are some positives, none of them being attendance by UT fans.

Why they don't make their deal more regional to get tourists in, I cant fathom. Seems a Big12 tie in or hold the FCS championship would be smarter.
