Stays. He was just named C-USA Coach of the Year a season ago.

The overall record is marred by this season (which granted was one of the worst in school history) and the situation inherited. This was still just his fourth season at the helm, so if we are going to be fair we need to give him time to see if he's in the process of rebuilding what was started 30+ years ago.

During the last few years under Coach Pete - when he was having health issues - the program struggled to maintain it's footing. When you consider most of the starting lineup was freshmen and sophomores this year, there is reason to be optimistic going forward. From this point forward though it will be 100% his team and kids he signed off on, so results will need to be seen over the next two years.

RE: MT Baseball Question...
MT almost NEVER FIRES a coach IN ANY SPORT! Now, I'm not saying McGuire should get the ax; but seriously this year was a complete disaster any way you measure it. On the other hand, wasn't he the CUSA Baseball Coach of the Year in 2015? Maybe someone closer to the program has heard something; but I would be shocked if he doesn't get at least one more year to put us in the post season.

and he had his contract extended after the 2015 season through the 2018 season. As a season ticket holder, it was tough sitting through a lot of games this season. I expect improvement next year because if not for any other reason, freshmen usually get better as sophomores. I just wonder if that will be enough. CUSA is a tough baseball conference.

The last time MT made it to the NCAA in baseball was in 2009...and the last time before that was 2004 (the fourth time in five years)

Ten years ago if you were to tell me that MT basketball would make it to the NCAA twice before MT baseball would, especially after building a new baseball stadium, I would have thought you were crazy.
