RE: ESPN lost another 1.5 million subscribers over past four months.

If they are losing subscribers, certainly any of the Fox sports subscribers would be losing at the same rate. The only way for Fox to lose less is if they are on a higher tier already and that base is lower to begin with.
Fox News is the highest rated cable channel. It also costs less than 1/6th of ESPN. So, for 1/3 the cost of ESPN, you can get Fox News and FS1. So, its good for the cable providers to keep FS1 on basic cable to keep the highest rated network, which also happens to be inexpensive.
FWIW, the highest rated cable channels are almost always one of ESPN, USA, TNT, TBS, and Disney, which also happen to be the five most expensive national cable channels. Univision is actually the highest rated, but they are often considered a "broadcast network" for some reason, but they are the highest ranking cable channel. Fox News Channel is generally in the second tier below them with Nickelodeon, FX, and Cartoon Network/Adult Swim.
Uhhh, no. FNC has been number 1 for the past 3 months. In May, Fox News Channel topped all of basic cable among total viewers, averaging 1.16 million to edge Nickelodeon’s 1.13 million. TNT, Adult Swim, USA, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Nick-at-Nite, ESPN, and Investigation Discovery round out the top 10. BTW, Univision is an over the air network.

For only 3 months... in an election year? with no incumbent, with the most newsworthy candidate in (ever) who is a Republican. Really, we are doing this? Versus every other time ever, the last three months their ratings are higher than they have ever been (in comparison to other networks) is all of a sudden the only thing that matters? No, that doesn't count, not for what you are claiming.
Besides that, it is still untrue. Check your facts homie. You left out a digit, Even using the current ratings, Fox News is not first. AT ALL. They are still behind Nick, AND TNT. Also Univision is a cable network, but is ALSO available over the air in a few markets that have heavy Hispanic populations.
