Wow. You know you're playing in a hitters park when Hunter can take one out.

2nd career HR. First over the fence...

Is this yet another BP pitcher. How can a school with a reputation for producing good pitchers have so many BP pitchers.

He was drafted out of HS and was considered one of the best pitchers in CO I believe.

I vote we start Greenberg in the next game, if we don't come back in this one.

Might as well just set up a pitching machine on the mound and have one of the guys that's pitched like five innings this year feed the ball into it

Third, IIRC: he had one earlier this season.

I was going off of JP so you could be right.

whichever team makes it to the finals will be running on empty against USM or Marshall. Best result would be for Marshall to win two today. Then tomorrow would be their sixth game.

I simply can't remember when was the last time we had such a weak pitching staff.

I think that's spot-on, and I think you can look to the rise of programs like TCU, UH, TAMU, and ULaLa for both cause and effect. Competition for recruits I think has played a large part in the struggles to return to Omaha, and I think we've seen some discussion of why Rice is at a particular financial disadvantage in that competition.

I'm thinking we've got to go with Salinas and hope he gives us 5 to 6 strong innings. After that, pitch whoever is left. At this point I would not use Otto and/or Big Jon anymore this weekend. Save them both for next week. From what many of the posters are saying, winning Wednesday and Thursday has pretty much guaranteed us a spot in the NCAA tournament. That's the important thing. At least we keep that streak going.

Whatever happens, I'll be following along.

IMO, the 7 year streak is more important. Would prefer that end.

Lewis walked. Runners on 1B and 2B, no outs. Given DiCaprio then bottom of order, you can't bunt here. As good a season as Dom has had, I'm surprised at his lack of pop...
DiCaprio looked to bunt but took a called strike (!!!)...then fouls off the bunt on the second pitch (same old, same old)...rocket off the pitcher goes for infield single.
Bases loaded no outs, but Wunderlich due up. Need to get the ball in the air. Have to capitalize here...
Wunderlich walked on 3-2 pitch! 02-13-banana Bases still loaded, no outs. Need to get at least one more...
Wild pitch ties it up! 02-13-banana Runners on 2B and 3B, no outs. Thank you! Let's get both of these in...
Kopycinski sac fly! 02-13-banana Runner on 3B, one out. Nice job of situational hitting by Hunter. Need to put this ball in play...
Warren RBI single! 02-13-banana Runner on 1B, one out.
Way to capitalize on the gifts, Owls. New LaTech pitcher, Jr RHP Sullivan (15 app, 2-0, 21.1 IP, 3.32 ERA, .227 BAA, 10 BBs, 22 Ks). He shut us down for 4 innings in one of the games last weekend...
Chandler flied out. Runner on 1B, two outs. Try a steal?
Proctor flies out to deep CF.

Coach Graham ... ANOTHER instance where a "successful" sac bunt would have cost Rice a run. Please stop. Just because everyone else does it, doesn't make it right! Especially early in the game, especially when Rice's best pitchers will not be throwing!

USM scored three in the first on an error, a walk, an hbp and a bases loaded double.

I don't know of a team in the history of college baseball with a streak matching our 20 year run of conference titles. I'm in the minority around here but continuing THAT is at the very top of my Post season wish list.
