And this girl is still extremely young and still going through puberty. Who knows what kind of whacked out emotions are running through her mind and what small things can set her off and trigger her.
Some people out there are sick and if she really was a sex slave as the article claimed, then that means at least one of those boys knows how to push some of her emotional channels and perhaps had leverage over her. Maybe he convinced her to send him nude photos or had a sex tape of her with him or someone else and threatened to release that/those. He could threaten to pass that to everyone at the school and she'd never be able to show her face at school ever again with her repuatation in shreds unless she gave in to the leverage and sucked off him and all of his friends. Heck, look what actually did end up happening and how now she can "never" show her face "again" to her friends and acquaintances because they all saw her act on that app and she's been pulled from school because her name is trash.
This is but one tactic of what's known as slut shaming and for fear of public humilation, financial reliance, lack of an emotional male connection, etc... many of these girls get stuck in a cycle slutting it up to many guys, so I hardly think it's just excuse making. We can't just let everything slide but on the other hand, it is more than just saying she needs some more fortitude and responibility.
Saying she needs to just buck up and get it together is a kind of shallow interpretation of what I'm saying. I can assure you it isn't.
I'm saying that either she is a capable human being and needs to make it through this event or she isn't and simply doesn't need to be placed in school with other kids.
The hard fact of the matter is that she has actually victimized other kids, even if they are teen boys who got what they wanted.
When you consider that her past is made into an excuse. I'd even completely agree that in the case of the bathroom scene that she is a victim of some smart ass teenage boy as you suggest. I'd agree that every person in that bathroom was a victim, certainly including her. But a victim of who is important. She's still a victim of whoever did what they did to her. The others are victims of her. That goes into what I said about this making what was done to her that bad.
My overall point centers around what she has done to others. When you weigh that in this analysis you see this a bit different. Accusations that she was raped or assaulted in that bathroom are unfounded and further victimize those idiot boys, and don't get me wrong I'm not sympathizing with their actions--they are inexcusable in themselves.
That's a serious part of all of this, accusations made against them and their presentation in school and the public. That's why I said it's a difficult situation. They are all victims in some way but the overall root cause is a damaged young girl consenting to something no reasonable person would think a 15 year old girl capable of.
You can't just wash your hands of the other people in that bathroom and nasty accusations made against and about them.
I'm also not suggesting those boys were worth more than she is or are more valuable. I'm simply pointing out the cycle of victimization and that when an otherwise victim makes the jump to hurting others we've crossed a very important tipping point which has to be considered. The ring-leaders among the boys need to be severely disciplined. You don't deal with this by claiming they are all victims throwing out that she has a tragic past and walking away.
Another point I have a problem with is how this is presented by the media, as sort of gawking at something atrocious and then acting like their is total closure in pointing out that the girl has a horrid past.
I'll also explain my use of the word whore. I used that word because that's what every person involved in the bathroom scene, including the girl herself, saw her as. If you put everything else aside the girl ended up in a situation where she can't be protected. If she told just one of those morons no it's dang near impossible to do much about because of the circumstances. It creates part of that victimization I spoke about because all it takes is some accussation and some boy who put themselves in a bad situation is now in an even worse situation, which occurred here at least in public. That word is important because nobody should want to be invoked in a situation where that word can be thrown around because it's just flat out dangerous, for a girl who can't be protected and for a boy who didn't actually do what may be asserted later.
