After losing a tough 1 - 0 game to #1 seeded, Kent, EMU is taking it to NIU good in the 2nd game of the tourney.

This game is an elimination game for both EMU and NIU.

Someone goes home...

Big 6-0 lead on NIU in the bottom of the 6th. Great pitching thus far.

EMU wins 6 - 2 and plays tomorrow afternoon...

It has been years since this team has won a MAC tourney game.

Beating NIU is always nice. Knocking them from the tourney is even nicer.

Ball State is also gone. It wasn't in the cards for BSU.

Toledo, with a loss, plays Kent and Toledo could be heading home tonight.

That would mean we'd face Kent again tomorrow...

Kent's ace threw over 100 pitches yesterday and wouldn't be available before Sunday (and even that isn't good).

IF we had been able to defeat Kent yesterday and completely use up their ace (a first round draftee to be next month in the MLB draft) they could be hurting...

I believe Kent hoped they could have him throw say 50 or 60 pitches, but he went I think over 110 (definitely over 100).

And it could be a lot worse for TOL.

EMU had bases load with only one out. New pitcher throws 4 balls, scoring a run.

The EMU batter swings early in his count and hits into a double play.

(man, leave the bat on your shoulder if the pitcher can't find the plate.)

Truth be told , I get more satisfaction out of beating Toledo and sending them home to the glass city.
