Ummmm... UT is being sued. Yes. But to compare that university's handling of a sexual assault case to Baylor's or even FSU's is laughable.

Two players were accused of rape. They were IMMEDIATELY suspended from the team and never suited up for UT again. The players' trials are this summer. But unlike Baylor and FSU, UT took steps even before the criminal proceedings to address the matter. Furthermore, UT conducted active investigations into a host of allegations surrounding the rape case BEFORE many of the allegations ever became public. Contrast that to Baylor and FSU where those universities purposefully turned a blind eye to incidents.

I never understood the whole Ken Starr thing. Why was it someone's job to basically just follow around Bill Clinton waiting for him to screw up? Seemed odd at the time, and it seems really surreal in hindsight.

Rice has Baylor this year at home, in what looks like an ESPN broadcast on Friday night. Lots of material for ESPN to compare the two schools since the break-up of the SWC 20 years ago.

In a scheduling quirk at the back end of a long series, Rice also hosts Baylor in 2019.

UTSA or UNT better watch out. NCAA coming for you now, to pay for Baylor's mistakes.

NCAA isn't going to come near this. Think they learned from Penn St.

Given the murder cover-up tragedy with their basketball team back in 2003, I don't know how this isn't a clear lack of institutional control.

Exactly right and the ncaa should be all over this in a hurry along with the appropriate law enforcement taking legal action. We will see.

This is the most recent instance of an NCAA hammer drop being appropriate and necessary. Whether or not they actually do it is the trick. So far they have not unless your mascot is a Mustang.

And I'm not talking a "whoops, the hammer just slipped off the tool bench onto the concrete floor" moment. It needs to be Angry Thor.

I said it with Penn State and I'll say it with Baylor. These provable alligaions should be enogh not only to hammer the athletic dpt but should be enough to lock the doors of the university. I know it will never happen but in all honesty it should.

That article mentioned university administrators being involved in trying to squash allegations. If true, much like at Penn State, that's not a lack of institutional control, that's the institution being fully in control and choosing to participate. Schools should absolutely lose their programs over things like this.

Possibly, Briles and Monken are cut from the same cloth, win at any cost type coach.

Last year against Ok State, Briles had one of his defensive backs fake an injury and Herbstreitt call him out on National TV

Was that the one where Herbstreit said the guy would come back the next play, but sat out the rest of the series as Ok State drove down the field to score?

Still whining I see.

Monken won't leave the NFL, he had long stated its his dream job.

Fedora is a more likely possibility.

I'd guess Baylor is going to get something similar to Penn St. A drastic penalty to make it look like the NCAA gives two fill in the blanks. Then people will start to whine about how oh these poor kids didn't come to a school understanding what the sanctions are like and it's just not fair to them not to be able to play in a bowl game, and then the sanctions will get lifted in a couple of years.

Essentially no one is getting the death penalty again.

School president fired, Athletic Director placed on probation and Art Briles about to be fired

The school announced Thursday it has suspended coach Art Briles with intent to terminate him after eight seasons.

School president Ken Starr has been removed as president and will transitions into role of chancellor; he remains a professor at the Baylor law school. Dr. David Garland has been named interim university president. Athletic director Ian McCaw has been sanctioned and placed on probation

Just saw where the AD resigned today

one only has to look at unc to realize how fuxxored that establishment has become...

college sports in totality is ill equipped to handle the monies that are now part of the business....

there were many of us that talked about how this was going to play out years ago when realignment began...

it's certainly played out as designed....and it wasn't that difficult to see it coming.....there isn't a simple 'suture' that can fix all the bs that now propagates the big slime business that is 21st century collegiate athletics....

deals under the table have always happened.....escalating to a pimp festival is a entire other lack of ethics (but hardly surprising)....

what's sad is how many of the kids are getting their arse handed to them due to the whim of a few future studs and the boosters/fanbase/media hype-ola....

oh wellzy.....it's been game over for the avg joe for some time now....."blouses" is all that is left for the pick-up games...

both monk and fedhat are definitely stories worth following as time moves forward....I wouldn't rule anything out with those two guys.....most of us knew fedhat was a prima donna, but monk let his rich biatch chi-town roots get the best of him....that one I didn't see coming.....anything that screams 'egomania rule' is an option for both....
