A big throw on her final attempt! 16.90 meters (55' 5.5"), moving her into 3rd place!!!

She's in 4th, but even though there are throwers remaining, there aren't enough to bump her! Going to Eugene!

In the triple jump, Daisy Ding currently is in 6th place, while Cybil Obiozor is in 15th.

Daisyhas dropped to 11th after 2 jumps; Cybil is 20th.

Now 12th and 21st.

Crud. 13th and 22nd. Not another 13th .... But, each has one jump remaining.

14th and 24th now. They're going to have to be clutch on the final jumps.

15th and 24th. Daisy had a negligible tailwind on her first 2 jumps while her competition have gotten freaking hurricanes behind them.

Yes! In spite of having another calm jump, Daisy moves to 5th. Cybil fouled on her 3rd attempt and is done.

With that jump of 13.02 meters (42' 8.75"), Daisy is in 6th place and cannot get bumped from top 12. Eugene bound!

I know that I'm a track and field fan, but that effort by Daisy Ding was about as clutch as it gets. She never got any real help from the wind, the competition was only 3 attempts, as opposed to the usual 6, and she knew that a foul or a poor jump would end her season. So, she nails a season best jump on that last attempt, and is rewarded with a trip to the NCAA Championships!
