Sounds like an opportunity for redemption!
If they did pitch their #4 or 5 guy, then that seems good for us as we crushed their #1 a couple weekends ago.
Today, FAU used:
Labsan (3 innings - 4 runs (3 earned), 3 hits, 3 walks, no Ks),
Rhodes (5 innings - 1 run (earned), 2 hits, no walks, 3 Ks), and
Ragdale (1 inning) - 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, no Ks.
From his May 13 preview of our series with FAU, here's Walt's assessment of the Other Owls' pitching staff at that time:
Walt Wrote:Arguably, the key to FAU's success this year has been the emergence of a multi-armed bullpen, which has been their firewall. Starters rarely go more than 5 - 6 innings even when pitching well, and their coach will frequently use 3 - 4 relievers to close out a game (each going just one inning) to keep opposing batters from getting too comfortable with any one pitcher and get the most favorable righty-lefty matchup. Anchored by their stud, one-inning closer (Ragsdale, who's 13 saves currently ranks 4th in the nation), 6 different relievers have pitched 20+ innings and have posted ERAs under 3.00. A seventh reliever just missed that cut after getting rocked in this week's start vs. Ohio State. Their bullpen has recorded almost half (15) of FAU's 33 wins on the season and, going back to last year, the team has won 42 consecutive games when leading after the 7th inning. So far this year, FAU is 15-0 when leading after the 6th inning. Consequently, if we hope to have a successful weekend it is imperative that our offense put up runs early...
