The eSports competitions will allow schools to compete in specific video games with head-to-head matchups in studios and a tournament in conjunction with a Pac-12 championship event. Game titles and event formats will be determined later.

Lots of hours to fill on a network but is video game play really TV worthy.

Only if there is some way to have the gamers face the real risk of physical injury - especially concussions. Without danger there is no sport!

If the goal is to turn the next generation into viewers, video games would be a good way to start.

I wrote an entire fake new story about something extremely similar. Now I can't release it.
