Does Baylor football become a dumpster fire again if Briles is let go?
The boo-boo is starting to hit the fan in Waco. I don't see how Art Briles escapes the streaming pile of excrement given his position. My question is really simple... has Baylor come far enough as a program to stay a top ten program, do they go to a 6-8 win a year program, or do they revert to pre-Art Briles 3-4 wins per year?

They would have to find a better coach than Charlie Strong because Texas is going to improve.
6-8 sounds about right.

RE: Does Baylor football become a dumpster fire again if Briles is let go?
While the title of the thread seems a bit over the top to me, I can see Baylor staying competitive. It will take another good hire, but those are out there and the school has invested.
In addition, Baylor (no offense to Baylor fans out there) seems to be likely to be left out of the next realignment shift. What that means is a likely landing spot in the AAC or MWC. If that is the case, Baylor may be well positioned to beat up on weaker competition as long as they have p5 resources. That means they will consistently be in the running for the G5 Big 6 game slot. Could be pretty good for branding, kind of a Boise State role.
Of course they could also move with Texas, Tech, and TCU to a new western ACC division.
Either way, I think they will be fine as long as their OOC attracts crowds.

Do you mean to imply that Baylor was NOT a dumpster fire prior to Art Briles?

Baylor was always mediocre before Art Briles, before the Big 12.

It's all about who they hire to replace him when the time comes. If they hire someone either from his coaching tree or closely related to it who doesn't make major changes they'll be fine. If they bring in someone who tries to change too many things scheme-wise they'll struggle.

Briles came from Houston, correct?
Just hire the current Houston guy. He seems to be doing pretty well there.

That said, is there any actual evidence that Briles committed a crime? If not, no need to fire him.

Baylor, Texas Tech, and TCU aren't going to the ACC.

Agreed. I could see a scenario where the ACC invites two teams from Texas (one for each division) but not four.

Tom Herman had many opportunities this offseason and chose to stay at Houston. Why would he leave for Baylor?

I'm sure the likes of Syracuse & South Carolina didn't offer him large amounts of money. Any of these jobs would have.
