Not sure how Under Armour expects to benefit from paying that exorbitant amount

I guess when you are #2, uhh#3, uhh #4 (whatever) you have to try harder. It's probably somewhat like Alabama's deal to get Mercedes Benz in that it still doesn't make money from it up front, but it gets ones foot in the door with other such customers.

UA is the coolest brand out there for kids in elementary, middle, & high school right now in terms of athletic apparel. Steph Curry has singlehandedly made UA a player in basketball as well.

Getting Under Armour now means getting the attention of more kids, who will be recruits in the near future. Nike's still king, but UA is gaining fast.

That deal moves UA to #2 behind Nike for P5 contracts...
