In addition, he has done most of his damage on the front 9; -3 and -5 on days 1 and 2, respectively. Hopefully he continues his barrage.

Perras finishes at -16. Currently sits 4 shots ahead of Cole and Doug Ghim of Texas. Ghim is three holes ahead of Cole.

Shake up on the team side... Virginia falls to the 6th spot and LSU jumps to 4th. Washington still at 5.

this is great. While you are first learning, resist the urge to spend 5 hours and $$$ on playing golf and instead spend a couple hours a week and $ on hitting balls.

Focus on distance control on your irons. Don't worry about dispersion. You are going to leak a bit both ways. That's okay. Focusing on getting to a point where you hit each iron within 5 or 10 yards, distance wise.

It's not available electronically and was written a hundred years ago but the concepts are the same: hit the ball up near the green. Try to get up and down (obviously) but make sure you get on the green and two putt. Occasionally you will actually hit the green. Then you must 2 putt. Occasionally you will hit the green and drop a bomb.

Cole tied for 2nd at -13, with five holes left. Univ of Houston is in 3rd place, 4 strokes up on the two schools tied for fifth. Reel 'em in Cole!

Looks like Cole has a tough par 3, a short par 5, and 3 medium to long par 4's left. Gonna be tough to make up 3 shots unless he can eagle the par 5.

UVA gets two birdies on 18 to knock Washington out of 5th place which means Ryan needs to play his final three holes at +2 or better to make the National Championship.

Ryan birdies his 17th hole to get to -14 and four shots ahead of his closest competitor for the championship bid.

One hole left and he's in 2nd place, two back of the leader. But he's also 4 ahead of the highest finisher from a non Top 5 team. As long as Ryan doesn't do a Van de Veld on the 18th, he will advance.

Cole finished T2 at -14 to make the National Championship! Way to represent!

This is excellent news! I'll admit to not following or knowing anything about college golf.
I'm assuming there are team and individual national championships and Ryan just qualified for the field for the individual championship?

Yup. As a team JMU was the first team left out of the tournament

It looks like golf channel will have coverage of the championship rounds. Go Dukes!

I believe this ends all of JMU Sports for the year. Cole had a very rough national tournament finishing at +16 Tied for 132nd in the nation. Still a great accomplishment to make it that far and deserving of our congrats. Hopefully he and the entire team comes back strong next year
