This was under ESPN unveiling the top 10 moments in the NCAA Tournament Sunday

http://espn.go.com/espnw/sports/article/...-regionals

One game, two game-winning hits

If you were going to pick a place where those words made sense, wouldn't it be Lamson Park? Louisiana-Lafayette's home field is so often a place where the unusual is commonplace, beginning with a Ragin Cajuns program that shouldn't be able to do what it does year after year in the modern marketplace.No. 14 Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas A&M had traded leads and were tied 8-8 when Keeli Milligan came to the plate for the Aggies with a runner on second base in the bottom of the seventh inning. She lined a double down the left field line for an apparent walk-off win that forced Game 7. Except that the home plate umpire ruled Milligan, a slapper, had stepped out of the box -- even though the chalk line had long since been erased (to be fair, the call appeared correct on replay ... probably).Enter Louisiana-Lafayette's Aleah Craighton, who has a better slugging percentage this season than anyone still in the tournament not named Kasey Cooper, Sierra Romero or her teammate Lexie Elkins. Her blast deep to left field to lead off the top of the ninth inning held up as the winner of the day's wildest game and sent the Ragin' Cajuns to a fifth consecutive super regional

I play a lot of mens softball and I have seen that stepping out of the batters box call start many a heated argument. I think some umps just dont like those hitters that take a cpl. steps toward the pitcher when hitting. glad to see the cajuns win tho especially over ut-austin. they look pretty strong.

In this case her foot was in front of the plate when she made contact with the ball. I don't know why the announcers were discussing lines when the video clearly showed her foot placement.

As for that out of the box call just the top half before TAMU got called we got a single that advanced a runner to third, and one out but the batter was called out the box and out, and the runner had to return to first. Turnabout is fair play I guess.

Additionally there were other umpire errors that allowed TAMU to have a four run inning they should never have had a run in.

I don't have the least bit of guilt about them getting called out, at least the umpire was emphatic and immediate.

Saw this posted on the Robocoach website for those who were arguing with the umpire call with the TA&M batter being out of the box. I think this is pretty definitive with the left foot on the ground in front of the plate and the right in the air (for those who were saying the left foot wasn't down).

I really get annoyed with the slappers taking a running start in the box. To many time, weather they swing or not, by time the pitch gets to the catcher the batter is halfway to the circle. I think they need to change the rule, if you level the front of the box, weather they swing or not, should be called a strike.

The a&m forum I visited was full of home cooking comments regarding that call. One of them called out the conference, the school and the city! I was there and it was easily the best college softball game I've seen.

They need to stop. They got the illegal pitches called and that (bad) pick-off call at first base.

One thing I didn't know was that UL is currently fifth in the country in D1 win total. Pretty awesome!

Exactly. The no calls that went in A&M's favor had direct impacts on them continuing innings and subsequently scoring with 2 outs when the inning should have been over. The stepping out the box call was called both ways, and video evidence shows that batters from both sides had stepped out. Not to mention video evidence shows A&M base runners leaving WAY too early on lots of pitches, and those calls were never made.

Oh Boo Hoo.

Translation, we are used to getting our way cause we are one of the "big boys" and we can't stand not getting our way, so it isn't our fault.

It does. Will have to flip back and forth between it and the baseball game.

Congrats on a great season Cajuns. You guys got a tough draw in Oklahoma, they've been firing on all cylinders lately. Reload and take another shot next year, hopefully we'll be up there with you.
