Was at and in the stadium last Saturday , to be honest the exterior is in need of some paint as well as a good general cleanup. The bricks in the front are beginning to show some signs of wear and tear especially the names as I noticed many that are difficult to read due to the deterioration of the green paint used on the letters, also the M-Club area is in dire need of something , not sure what but the wall with the bricks looks pretty pitiful with the empty spaces, my vote would be to fill in the blank areas then as additional bricks are sold remove the blank ones , right now there are two large blank areas right and left of center. Also the general appearance of the M-Club area is not exactly something I would write home about.

As for the inside , the scoreboard endzone needs something in place of the somewhat odd looking script of Thundering Herd, possibly something along the lines of a large elongated CUSA logo, or if not that then Thundering Herd in block letters from top to bottom or just the grass , I have never been a fan of that particular Thundering Herd script.

Anyway as far as the seating and field, man its gonna look great with the new turf, as well as the addition (when it comes ) to the facilities building.

All in all the old lady looks pretty good , lots of great memories as well as more to hopefully come.

So I guess that in your opinion you think all is well for entering CUSA..man have you got a shock coming, that is if you happen to travel outside of Huntington. The stadium needs some serious dressing up, hopefully once the turf is in and the Central Florida Stopper is shaved there will be time and money for some of the neglect that is obvious.

The best facility that MARSHALL has is the football stadium bar none and that is the one more people are going to see than any other. As for baseball I expect CUSA teams to boycott getting on what is called a baseball field ( not coming into a baseball STADIUM) due to the possibility of experiencing a season ending injury if doing nothing else but entering the place. What an embarassment. Back to the football stadium and your opinion , it would be interesting to see your house if you think the football stadium is in such great shape I would hate to see what you would call great shape when it comes to a residence...

P.S this is not the MAC and Akron for one example

When did I ever say that the football stadium is in great shape? WHEN? I didn't did I?

I'm waiting... when did I say that?

Thanks for all the WONDERFUL solutions you provided for Marshall. Sorry but your ideas sucked. Oh, and that "Script" that they use near the endzone is a registered trademark. They paid big bucks for that, and obviously they like it. :chair:

Your other observations were nit-picky and arbitrary. There isn't a stadium of facility in the country that is in perfect condition. Just remember that Marshall Stadium is 16 years old and if you are so upset with the way everything looks then maybe you should contact the Athletic Department and volunteer your time to fix it.

Going, going, gone
Marshall fans flock to stadium to get their piece of Herd history
By ANTHONY HANSHEW - The Herald-Dispatch

HUNTINGTON -- So many memories were played out on Joan C. Edwards Stadium’s seven-year-old carpet.

Hobbled Marshall University quarterback Chad Pennington chugged along the unforgiving, abrasive Astroturf 2000 surface for a huge gain in the 1999 Mid-American Conference championship game, setting up a dramatic, last second victory over Western Michigan. Three seasons later, Byron Leftwich (also injured) secured a fifth MAC title, firing a 40-yard touchdown pass to No. 40, Darius Watts, in the final minute against Toledo.

Bison , when far too many expound on the virtues of Marshall football , facilities and the like , it would help if at least the paint would be kept up, that was the point , while major changes like the turf are one thing its many times the little things that make or break the overall appearance, it like painting a house and not painting the windows or shutters, while the house looks good the rest detracts from the overall appearance, so it is with the stadium, the areas I mentioned are ones that due to the so called importance, i. e. the bricks in the front (of which I have 7 not counting the one in the M-Club area) are in need as well as the surronding area of a good cleanup as well as repainting of the letters so that they are more easily read. As far as the structure, the whole place could use a paint job, while its decent looking when you are in the middle of 20th street the closer you get to it the more maintainence you realize needs to be done. As for the logo in the endzone below the seats, I for one just dont care for it regardless of how much money was spent to copyright it or whatever, it at this time does not fit in with the block lettering used everywhere else in the stadium, uniformity looks so much better than one thing here and another there. Just take a look around at the stadiums of the schools that Marshall fans aspire to be like and you can see what I was meaning.

Anyway its an opinion thats all and not something to go into a huff about .....not negativity, but truth, which is sometimes perceived as negativity ...

Question: do you or any other Marshall fans not agree that the stadium needs some sprucing up, especially with the TV games this season, KSU for one, and entereing CUSA which will be the first time many CUSA fans see our facilities...

No the only joke here is CENTRALS's atttempts to rule the MAC which was a JOKE    As well as whatever that was last year that you people attempted to pass off as football.

You guys ran off at the mouth with the MAC and never could back it up , add to that the fact of going 0-11 last season , man when someone goes 0-11 in the MAC thats when its time to lay off the smack at least until you can win a game or two.

Marshall had the worst season we have had since the very early 80's and we still with all the flack that was going on managed to go 500 including the bowl loss..so for someone to come on even a smack board from a team that couldnt defeat the lowest (outside of CENTRAL) of the low in the MAC is pretty firckin funny..

One thing however I will give you..without a doubt you might be the easiest guy on any board I have ever been on to piss off, and that is what makes you so much fun....

When the flagship of our athletic dept needs painting ...thats not good, not good at all . We have one thing and one thing only at MU
that gets us national attention basically year in and year out , at least since 1990 and that is football, we enter CUSA with teams that are nationally known year in and year out in not only football for one reason or the other but also hoops, baseball and golf (we wont go there) but our "nationally known" is football, sure the womens hoops has made progress, and womens tennis and the grils softball but as far as the men...FOOTBALL , that stadium has to be in tip top condition from the parking lot all the way to the top of the press box ( regardless of Little Miami)

The point is , its like owning a Ferrari, you might be able to initially purchase the car ...but can you maintain it. Maintainence is the key element in everything.

Having 8 bricks ( 7 in the front and 1 at the M-club ) then going to the stadium and seeing the condition of the walls as well as the rediculousness of the appearance of the M-club wall as well as the M-Club area , then looking at rust running off of some of the white painted steel along with the unslghtlyness of the parking lot with weeds growing in cracks..well the point is you gotta maintain the stadium in tip top shape, as said its the flagship, the most visible thing we have and the program is the only one at present with a real national recognition one way or the other.
