Having Starr with political connections out of the way opens up the likelihood of prosecution. Briles may be a popular coach but he isn't tied to big political personalities.

I see it as protect the political connections, and get ready to find the real scapegoats.

Very astute obseration

Don't be ridiculous. No one is going to be facing criminal charges.

Starr, the AD and Briles -- at worst -- will be allowed to step down, and with compensation packages.

A fine, even a $60 Million one, is not stopping any of the corruption at these schools. Especially when their conference/CFP payouts are approaching such ridiculous numbers.

Baylor covered up a murder. That's a felonious act. And here they are, right back at it again. Same with UNC, Miami, and the list goes on. What has changed culturally at any of these schools? Nothing. The ends justify the means. Meanwhile, another directional school just had a 10 year show cause penalty because the head coach handed a player a Kleenex.

Baylor never covered up a murder. A murder took place and the basketball coach at the time tried cover up improper payments and failed drug tests. After an assistant coach let the press know, the entire thing quickly fell apart. The NCAA came in and basically gave Baylor Basketball the closest thing to the SMU Death Penalty.

The irony of that is, the people investigating the murder, I imagine, could not have cared less about improper benefits, and likely would have never brought them to light during the investigation. Or at the very least, the fallout would have been nowhere near as severe had they been found, as consider the other circumstances, I just don't think anyone would have cared.

Looks like Starr is going to fight this out with Baylor's board, or he wants to make sure others are taken down along with him, or both.

Baylor’s Kenneth Starr has asked the board to release the entire Pepper Hamilton report, not paraphrased excerpts.

This is interesting, although makes me wonder on whose favor.

For those of you keeping track Texas Tech, KSU and Baylor will have interim presidents. A supermajority for expansion is now impossible.

Why does having interim presidents make a supermajority impossible? An interim president has the same authority a permanent one does.

It is possible Starr was told to fire Briles and/or AD but refused. Board says, "Clean out your office."

Or perhaps he was going to fire Briles and the AD and was told to clean out his office.

This is going to get real nasty, and a lot of lawyers are going to make a lot of money.

Speaking as a fan with some perspective on controversial decisions made by presidents regarding coaches, it is a no win situation.

A Daily Beast article about the situation.
The third paragraph about says it all.

So Starr out as president but staying as chancellor. Baylor firing Briles. McCaw staying. Unnamed others dismissed.

I think that there needs to be a Black Friday. This behavior needs to be nipped now before it turns into a monster.
