Rice vs. LaTech (Thursday Game 1)
Teykl still out, and The OG is sticking with his left-handed, front-loaded lineup against another southpaw pitcher (which hasn't worked yet). Gray gets the start at 1B, where I expect him to play next year, but it does significantly weaken our defense until he learns the position and gets comfortable playing there...
Warren
Chandler
Proctor
DiCaprio
Gray
Myers
Lewis
Wunderlich
Kopycinski
Duplantier
Opposing pitcher...
Phillip Diehl (RS Jr, LHP): 12 starts, 4-4, 64.0 IP, 4.42 ERA, .293 BAA, 23 BBs, 71 Ks
...throws in the 89 - 91 range, but has a wipeout slider, which is going to extemely tough for our left-handed laden lineup. He struck out 7 USM batters last week in 6 innings in LaTech's Friday win. We should be looking first pitch fastball.

RE: Rice vs. LaTech (Thursday Game 1)
As posted in another thread, Coach Graham said Monday that against lefthanded pitching, our top five lefthanded hitters are hitting around 320 and our top five righthanded hitters are hitting around 220.

Hope Warren is okay.
The indignities continue. It's like they're playing snake bit.

How does that help? The game will just be resumed later with the Owls incredibly deep bullpen.

LaTech with the antics described by USM fans already. Sticking their legs out into pitches.

Again, if we don't start throwing strikes we're going to lose badly this weekend. These guys are not going to swing until they're behind in the count.

Dup just free passed the bases loaded with no outs in the 3rd. Unless Houdini makes an appearance, this game is going to be over momentarily.
Finally a strike after 10 consecutive balls. Jon already over 50 pitches.

FIU up on USM, of course. We just don't deserve it this year.

Jon's not missing bats at his usual rate. LaTech batters are fouling off his 2-strike pitches.

Must be a LaTech mandate for their batters to take breaks...
