Trade Miami for Kentucky. Straight up.

No offense but that's crazy talk. While Miami can compete at a championship level in football, baseball, basketball and a myriad of other sports; Kentucky is strictly basketball. It's basketball 24/7 for them from October 1 until they are eliminated from the NCAA tournament.

While I wouldn't be against sharing a conference with them and out and out trade for anyone presently in The ACC would be a terrible move.

We'll simply agree to disagree, yes?

If that proposal were to ever be made and considered, I'd likely be the only person on here who would not be offended.

Explain how a Miami for Kentucky swap makes the ACC better.

Don't forget Jim, the rest of the Year is bragging about the next recruiting class and how No One will stop Them from winning the next several NCAA Championships. Ya Just gotta love stupid !03-lmfao

Keith,
They sure are upset today with Bolden. The threats directed at a high school player for choosing a school other than UK are sick and sad.

Bump. I don't want this to be missed. I want to get the thought process behind this statement.

If KU and OU went to the B1G west, thereby creating B1G divisions of:
EAST
RU, UMD, PSU, MSU, Michigan, OSU, Purdue, Indiana

WEST
Minn, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, OU, KU, Northwestern, and Illinois

Would Texas stay in an 8 school Big XII if it still had a yearly OOC fb game against OU and a yearly OOC bb game against KU AND the conference reimplemented very uneven TV revenue distributions?

They would have similar TV money and they would get to drop KU from their football schedule. I'm not sure what would happen to the Sugar, though. I'd imagine that the Big XII would keep their tie-in, as would the SEC. However, I doubt that the even split would last. I can see 33% Big XII, 67% SEC.

And, how would that impact the ACC - or would it?

By now, Delany must see that his dream acquisition (UVA & UNC) is a bridge too far. The optimum alternative is OU and KU. The B1G West needs a premier FB program. Kansas hoops is royalty.
Texas might stay in the Big 12, if that conference still exists. The Baylor AD may soon evaporate. The Longhorns would happily add SMU, Rice, Houston or just about any Texas school. Oklahoma will continue its FB series with Texas because they enjoy the exposure in DFW where they have lots of alums. They need the recruiting boost it gives them in TX.
The ACC would not likely bear any consequences from the move. But there is some small possibility that The ACC would use the instability of the moment to lure TX into a deal, partial or perhaps all-in.
On Land Thieves, the consensus seems to see Boren delivering the Sooners to the B1G because he is a wanna be "academic snob." The message board fans want the PAC or SEC and claim that the donors and BoR prefer the SEC.
You post about the partitioning of the B1G into distinct quasi-conferences made sense. They could make just as much money and streamline scheduling and administration.

I don't see any team staying in an 8 team power conference. If they lost 2 teams they would have to replace them. If their TV partners agreed to not lower the payout (doubtful) then they would need 10 teams to meet the number of games in the contracts. Just like last time.

I think the Big 12 would keep their Sugar bowl contract as long as Texas is there. Would Texas stay in the Big 12? I don't think so. BYU and Cincinnati don't have the prestige of Oklahoma and Kansas. I think the ACC as a partial or full member is their only option. Why? Because we're the only power conference besides the Big 12 that will let them keep the LHN and that would be a small price to pay to be assured of being one of the remaining power 4 league.

On a side note, if the power 4 decided to go champions only into the CFP, Notre Dame would have to join the ACC full time to have access to the CFP and having Texas and Notre Dame along with the rest of the conference puts us on equal or better standing to everyone else.

Would the power 4 vote to go to champions only in the CFP? No. The SEC still wants multiple teams in, and the B1G has to like their chances too. Also, the B1G and Pac 12 don't want ND in the ACC. The Pac 12 has the Stanford and USC games every year and if ND is in the ACC with 16 teams, they are only going to have 3 OOC games a year.

RE: Semi OT - Realignment
Let's say OU and KU both jump ship, and Baylor gets slapped down over these latest allegations. That only leaves Texas, TCU and Oklahoma State to carry the Big XII flag (with occasional help from Texas Tech, Kansas State, and WVU)
...bigger question IMO: is that group still considered a "power" conference?
