Yes. If anything has gone right this election cycle, it's that the evangelicals have finally been rejected along with their candidates. The GOP will be the better for it.

I think the appeal of evangelicalism in the South was that it was a socially acceptable way to bully others. To tell people that they're wrong and to advocate public policy punishments for them. They kind of feed off the same anger as the Trump folks. Pretty much the same appeal. Only Trump substitutes Mexicans and Muslims for Gay persons as targets. But I have no doubt that anyone pandering to That group and who has also advocated removing or ignoring many Constitutional protections for minorities won't come after us soon enough.
