PAC 12/Big 12 alliance?
I saw some interesting stuff from Jon Wilner, a reporter for the San Jose Mercury News, tonight about a potential alliance between the PAC and the Big 12...

Behold his Twitter account

The San Jose Mercury News was at one time a credible source of information. I'm not sure it still is. But the math is way off here. A PAC/Big12 merger is 22 schools minus Oklahoma is 21. So who are the other three?

The thought of Baylor in the P12 alone is enough to break the suspension of disbelief needed to even contemplate this merger.

I don't think he is suggesting a merger, but a scheduling alliance to produce additional content.

If the Big 12 schools were to sign off on playing late games then the two leagues would own the night when they square off against one another. Play a consistent slate against each other every season and maybe they combine to cut the revenue gap a little.

I had the same question with regard to the number and I was also wondering how WVU would feel about 10PM local starts.

I think his reference to OU leaving for the SEC was conditional. He believes OU will head our way if the Big 12's problems aren't solved.

He did say though that he thought this might materialize in 6-8 years so I'm guessing he thinks the Big 12 will expand in the short term although I'm not sure I buy that.
