I think Brent Scott could be a huge help to Andrew Drone. They have similarly big bodies and Brent was always great scoring around the basket.

Talking to Rhoads at the caravan he plans to throw Meyers into the deep end and let him learn how to be a big guy and he thinks Andrew will improve by having another big body to play against. Roads also said he has been preaching at Andrew to just take the ball up instead of drinking around under the basket.

I thought Drone's fitness was vastly improved by the beginning of last year and that let him really work on his skills. He had more possessions were he spun and took it up for a dunk in the second half of the season than in his first 2.5 years. I think it will only get better this year.

Brent made a ton of progress from his freshman year, when he was quite raw, to his senior year. The coaching staff at the time (Thompson, et al) really did a great job identifying him, recruiting him and then working him into the caliber of player he became.

It's also important to note that Brent was on Willis' final staff at Rice (which wasn't a great year obviously). Should be a much better experience the second time around.

Kudos to Rhodes for determining this would be a good add to his staff. I wonder if the ceremony honoring Scott this past season was what brought Brent to his attention ?

If Drone takes rebounds right back up without trying to dribble, he will be an incredible force under the basket. Brent was great at that. He will be a fabulous addition to the staff.

I think it offered a chance for Rhoades to understand Brent's interest still in the program. Also I am sure both Brent and Thompson talked with Rhoades about their time at Rice and the similarities to the current program.
