I will be totally fine if the big 12 does nothing. I would love Memphis to get in, but you would rather them do nothing than pull 2 members from the American that aren't us. That would be a nightmare.

Yep! So, I really dont know if I want them to expand or not, cuz it would either me really good or really bad for us.

While I hope we're a part of the BIG XII in the near future (which I think we will be), I'm just thankful that we're no longer in CUSA. If not part of a P5 conference, being in the AAC ain't all bad. Recognizable schools with recognizable athletic programs, like I said, better than being stuck in CUSA.

If the Big XII never expands, the AAC is a very nice home.

But I just don't think the cards are done shuffling yet.

Anybody remember when the AAC will renegotiate their TV contract? If the B12 doesn't expand, I would imagine our contract will vastly improve. The AAC has done very well, since inception. This article refers to a 2018 hopeful renegotiation year.

I think our contract runs for 6 years, starting with the 2013-14 BB season, and FB being picked up starting in 2014. So both expire in the 2019 calendar year, at the end of their respective seasons. BB in April 2019 and FB in Dec. 2019, or Jan. 2020.

That would mean negotiations likely start in 2018. Assuming my memory is correct.

Our current ESPN contract is pretty nice, IMO, though I'm not aware of the financials. They pretty much play every AAC game a weekend and the exposure we get on Thursday (and particularly) Friday nights is pretty good.

The B12 is reactive not Pro-active so I don't think they will expand or should I say do anything unless some other Conference makes a move first and that could kill the Conference if it happens.. JMO

Only time Big 12 was pro-active...was when they set up their 12 team conf that started up in 1996.

Then after both Colorado and Nebraska both announced in June 2010 that they would be leaving after 2011-2012 season to other conferences (Pac 10, turned into Pac 12 and Big Ten), Big 12 "reacted" and invited first TCU then WVU in Oct 2011 to begin the 2012-2013 season in the Big 12.

It's been 20 years since the Big 12 has be proactive...and they might have to be pushed into a corner (i.e. by lack of conf TV $$$) to get them to react one more time.
