Do southerners eat donuts? Seriously, I always thought that most native southerners were biscuit afficianados.

By the way, in upstate New York, Krispy Kreme has been a failure. Tim Hortons dominates the market.

Of course, but I'm not a fan of Krispy Kreme either. Too sweet. They had massive hype around here about 10 years ago (always packed), but have since gone out of business. At least around here.

We have these little shops in and around Houston called "Happy Donuts". Nary a word of English is spoken by anyone that works there, and I'm 99% sure they just push a bunch of random buttons on the register and charge you whatever it says, but they are my go-to spot. Be there at 4am to get them fresh out of the fryer.

Canadian chain. Y'all might as well be Canadian. I love some KK, especially when this lights up.

RE: Southern Food Chains
If you are going up I85 make a point to stop at The Beacon Drive-in in Spartanburg. It's not a chain, but it's worth the stop. It's the second largest drive-in in the country, and the burgers are first rate.

If you are going up I95 and you are close to Santee, SC at supper time stop off and try Captain's Quarters Seafood. Again, not a chain but it's some of the best BBQ you'll find not located in Charleston or Murrells Inlet. If seafood isn't your thing you can try Lonestar BBQ and Mercantile. It's a country buffet with BBQ, hash & rice, fried chicken and various sides. The BBQ isn't the best out there, but it's decent enough. The sides make up for it, especially their famous tomato pie.

As hokey as the entire concept of the complex is Pedro's Diner at South of the Border is pretty good. Avoid the hot dog stand though unless you want to check out every rest area between there and home.

In my opinion, it doesn't get any better than Bojangles and Cookout.

BUT - if you've had those and are wanting to try something new... (and are in NC or VA)

BISCUITVILLE

They do breakfast platters, and amazing biscuits.

As HoD, stated, Krispy Kreme's reach exceeded its grasp and ran up against other culturally entrenched competitors. But doesn't Tim Horton's also serve serve the Canadian version of chili cheese fries known as Poutine?

Also HOOD, I imagine you've already dined at a Waffle House?

Hate? Chick-fil-a treats every guest the same. My Chick-fil-a is near Penn State. We get all kinds of kinds and treat everyone like Jesus would.
