Who else is teaming up for satellite camps?
Houston is teaming up with A&M and I just noticed on Twitter that Tulane is promoting several camps in Louisina with Aggy coaches. Any other schools here teaming up with other Div1 colleges for these camps?

Looks like Temple, Rutgers, and Ohio State are also hosting a joint venture June 8th. Syracuse, Florida, and ODU are set to host one as well.

Nothing firm yet, but Tuberville has mentioned the possibility of teaming up with Auburn at some point.

ODU is hosting:
Michigan (June 5)
Virginia (June 9)
Maryland (June 12)
Penn State (June 16)

Virginia Tech turn us down as they have their own camp in our area.

I don't know if invites were sent, but local G5's were discussed as well:

Marshall
Charlotte
Appalachian State

Ours isn't exactly pimping our school as we aren't letting an out of state school run a camp at our location. . since a&m can host a camp by themselves at any of the locations it really was decided that having both staffs together would bring more kids and be mutually beneficial.

However if Michigan were teamed up with UH then yeah it would be their staff needed a school to host one so they can work it and get into texas, which many smaller texas schools are gladly allowing. Herman says he still believes in the old definition of camps and wants his to be instructional and the a&m guys believed the same.

It is as much pimping as anyone else. It is no different than any others rationale. The point is to come to an area, and use the college facilities of that area. The fact that some universities pass a state line is insignificant.

RE: Who else is teaming up for satellite camps?
So let me see if I get this straight...

The concept is that you open up YOUR football facilities to let some other coach and school come down to evaluate and recruit YOUR home talent base for THEIR benefit. And presumably the hope is that you might get the scraps left over that Michigan or A&M or whomever rejects.

I suppose... I mean on one hand you do get kids onto your campus that would never have set foot there otherwise I suppose. And it's not like those kids were going to let an offer for the big-boys go by anyways. It's kind of accepting the obvious and knowing your place in the world, I guess.

No, the only way for schools to pass the state line is for them to work another schools camp. So if Oregon wanted to come to houston they would have to work ours or another colleges camp in Houston.

UH is teaming up with a&m, hosting camps together throughout dfw and east texas, not pimping our camp to another program.

I stand corrected. Working together the dallas area and not the Houston area is different.
