But I like it Coogs. Unfortunately Herman won't be at UH when we finally get good in 2 years. Maybe Tony Levine will be back...

Relax. Herman and Morris are friends. Morris probably asked him to say something to stir up the rivalry and interest in the series.

You right CougarRed

A Houston SMU/Dallas rivalry is way overdue... Herman taking the first jab was nice, now I hope Morris returns it, but not bellow the belt though. Hehe

I'm pretty sure Houston dwarfs Cincinnati in football, all-time record aside.

Houston and SMU is not a rivalry. SMU needs to have a good year for a change, especially without cheating.

SMU is the closest thing to a rival we have or will have in the American. Don't be an ass.

LOL, historically there's more bad blood and competition with Tulsa than with SMU. And even then, most UH fans won't embrace Tulsa as a rival so its not a real rivalry either.

You can't force rivalries, they have to develop or be so geographical and ideal that they make sense. Even the "rivalry" with Rice is somewhat forced. UTSA and Texas State have more potential to be a rivalry than any former SWC or Tulsa (at least among fanbases).

I wouldn't say rice is a forced rivalry. People legitimately get excited for the battle of the bayou bucket. Tulsa is probably a little forced although it's the best rivalry we have right now I'm the aac.

At least with Tulsa we have a much more competitive rival history. Now if we could get a trophy or something for the rival to win that would make it that much better.

Tulsa is forced my behind. They're all the way in the Northeast of Oklahoma, they probably wouldn't care about us at all if not for 73-14, 82-28 and especially 100-6. Though the same can be said about SMU and 95-21, most Tulsa fans hold a bigger grudge for 100-6 and almost 50 years later haven't let it go.

I don't know why people get excited for Rice. The rivalry is one sided in multiple ways.

If you want to bring up force rivalries, let me throw this one at you

Houston Astros vs Dallas Tx Rangers

Im not even a Rice supporter but majority of the people here will favor a Rice game over Tulsa, not even close.
