Sure it has the second highest rate of minimum wage jobs, its the second largest state and I bet that trend continues with FL third and so on with Illinois mirroring somewhere close to their population size. TX has an excellent university system. Illinois is on is way to getting worse and worse because there is no more money and there will be no more money to spend on education. The only thing Illinois can do going forward is make cuts. They spent too much and didn't plan for the future and now they have a model that is not sustainable.

It's best to just ignore statement from him. He posts some outlandish things regarding NIU athletics and other schools on a consistent basis.

I don't think my statement about the state of finances in IL is outlandish. And my saying so doesn't make me a bad guy, I am not responsible for the financial mess in IL that is on the politicians, but if saying that about me makes you feel better, then so be it. I am a big fan of NIU athletics and your AD. I don't EVER say anything bad about NIU athletics, so please show me one post where I said something bad about NIU athletics! I do comment on the financial mess in Illinois when the topic revolves around that issue though, that I am guilty of. I also just donated to the Diesel Memorial, why would I do that if I didn't like NIU athletics? If I am going to come on over to your board and be a part of it, then I felt like a donation was something I wanted to do. I don't just freeload on these boards and not do good things as well unlike some folks. Cheers!

You are right and you are a good guy. All of us from Illinois should be embarrassed by the politicians we elected. Except Madigan was elected by a mere 9 thousand people who voted for him, and he holds the whole state captive. These bozos are crooks and their interests fall in one area - to pad their pockets. It's a disgusting state run by disgusting people. Most people retire to someplace nice. Our politicians retire in prison. Residents are lining up to get out of this state.

And we appreciate that!

I just want to be clear that bad state government is not unique to Illinois. Florida is also a trainwreck when it comes to state government, albeit in different ways than Illinois.

RE: $60 million dollar HIGH SCHOOL stadiums in Texas
If the tax payers want to fund a 60 million dollar stadium, that is their right. The 3 football teams probably generate more revenue from fans that NIU does. They will pack in 12k plus concessions etc. on both Friday and probably Saturday. Bartlett HS shares a stadium with Streamwood HS so they alternate home and away games to use Friday nights.

Texas doesn't have financial issues with debt and pension obligations like Illinois. The state is run lean and mean by Republicans and this is a local city doing what they want with bonds and ironically by vote and at their own wishes. The math just works in TX because the state isn't pissing away their income tax and property tax on legacy programs and debt.
Best post of the day!!! AND TRUE

Even if the Texas education system is ranked higher than Illinois, take a step back and realize we are talking about high school football.

Also, why is NIU13 always using three exclamation points? Maybe he thinks he can win the argument by being louder"!!!".

You should be sorry to say, because that is flat out wrong according to almost any impartial source.

Texas has very good schools. To suggest any entity or grouping that includes the Chicago Public School system as an equal is embarrassing, ignorant and can only be explained by historical bias.

Sorry! but Texas schools stink! not everyone but overall not great. The requirements for kids are low. I would put the best schools in Illinois up against the best schools in Texas any day! Also Texas has jobs but they are second in the nation in minimum wage jobs.

Texas' largest public charter school network, Responsive Education Solutions, teaches creationism as science. Creationism "science" states that the Earth is roughly 10,000 years old. Also, the fight to mandate the teaching of creationism as science in ALL public schools has gone on in Texas for years. The governor, the lieutenant governor and several members of the Texas Board of Education have been at the forefront of pushing the creationist agenda.

'Nuff said.

I live in Texas, they believe that dinosaurs walked the earth 150 years ago and that you can pray away most diseases.

With that said....The football stadiums down here are awesome and no one gives a crap what anyone else thinks about them. Because they actually use the stadiums they build.
