Tiger Football Attendance
From the Daily News...

Memphis Football Attendance Ranked Second in Growth

Quote:The University of Memphis football team experienced the second-largest growth in average attendance from 2014 to 2015, according to a report of the National Football Foundation. Memphis saw an increase of 9,951 people per game in its average attendance numbers, second only to Temple’s increase of 20,789 during that period.

Quote:In addition, Memphis’ appearance in the Birmingham Bowl helped the bowl game with its biggest increase in attendance, drawing 59,430 fans to the contest compared with 30,083 in attendance the year prior, a 98 percent increase. The bowl was one of 15 that drew more than 50,000 people.

Interesting. You go with what things look like to your eye, but always good to see hard numbers to back up your perceptions.

That's a huge number for Temple.

This is something that the Power 5 conferences will notice when they expand. I hope SEC and Big 12 are really noticing this.

home games with Penn State and Notre Dame in the same year will do that.

agreed, but their winning accounted for roughly 4-5k of that 21k listed above when you take out drawing more than double their average for those two games.

I would bet that 2/3 of the crowds for those games were fans of the "visiting" team.

The visitors absolutely filled the stadium for those two games. Just as Auburn was responsible for the big bump in attendance at he Birmingham Bowl.

Yep. That statement about Memphis helping to raise the Bham attendance wasnt quite a lie, but Auburn had much more to do with it which is why they were sent there.
