Rice vs. UH (Tuesday Game)
Time to take back the Silver Glove!

No preview today as I'm still in California, and traveling back to Chicago as tonight's game unfolds, but here's several links....

- The UH game notes: http://www.uhcougars.com/sports/m-basebl...16aaa.html

- The Coogs are 27 - 19 (5-9 road, 2-7 vs. Top 50, 6-13 vs. Top 100, #92 RPI, #85 ISR, #118 SoS). They're 6-5 in midweek games. Here's their schedule and results to date: http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2016/schedule/Houston

- Their hitting .268/.3448/.370 as a team, with 25 HRs, 70 doubles/triples, 52-63 SBs and averaging 4.6 runs per game. Joe Davis is their one dangerous hitter (.341/.392/.562, 9 HRs, 14 doubles, 40 RBIs). Their pitching staff has been stout-- even better than ours, and with impeccable control: 2.55 ERA, .222 BAA, 1.03 WHIP, 4.3 K:BB ratio, averaging under 2 BBs per game. Here's their individual and team stats: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/hou/..._stats.pdf

- Here's their roster: http://www.uhcougars.com/sports/m-basebl...r-mtt.html

Let's extend our win streak to a season-high 6 games, and return the Silver Glove to South Main. Go Owls!

I'm surprised their record isn't better with those pitching stats.

...especially given their incredibly weak OOC schedule

UH has allowed 46 unearned runs on 61 errors.
Rice has allowed 29 unearned runs on 43 errors.

17 runs isn't a lot over the whole season, but explains in part why they have 4 fewer wins and 5 more losses than Rice.

...against a MUCH easier schedule, and an extremely home-baked one at that.

UH is 6-13 against Top 100 RPI teams and 13-1 against 200+ RPI teams. They have played 14 games against 200+ RPI teams!!

For comparison, Rice is 16-7 against Top 100 RPI teams and 0-0 against 200+ RPI teams.

On the negative side, this is a night game.

Sunset is at 8:04 pm with first pitch at 6:30 pm, so technically, only half or less of the game is a night game. Pile on early Owls!

Isn't our only midweek loss this year to TCU, and we had that game won until the bullpen/defense meltdown late?

Much earlier in the season when a 6:30 pm start truly was a night game.

Leadoff HBP. Sac bunt. Single for runners at corners.

Beautiful DP prevents the run. Esquivel escapes.

Chandler grounds out. Myers rolls one past the SS. Proctor hits into DP

End first
