FedEx
I wrote this a couple of months ago, but I'll say it again. If FedEx is ever going to help us get into a P5 conference now is the time. Actually, the time has probably already passed and we'll find out soon enough if what they did was enough to push us over the brink. I think there are some very important questions, but I doubt anybody who posts here knows the real answers.

How much is FedEx actually doing or promising?
Is the CEO actively involved?
Who else?
Are schools like UC going to their local Fortune 500 companies to seek similar support?
Are any other local Memphis companies assisting or is it all on FedEx?
What can be promised other than sponsorship money?

If we get into the BigXII it will be largely due to FedEX,

If we don't get into the BigXII it will be because we were too far behind for FedEx's generous support to 'make up for our deficiencies'

Either way they are by far our biggest supporters. 04-cheers

Other schools in the hunt have support, but not nearly anything approaching FedEx's support for Memphis

RE: FedEx
I have no doubt that FedEx has gone above and beyond. However, I don't think they have a magic wand like some folks infer.

I know that they would probably guarantee x dollars of advertising revenue to the conference. I just don't know if there is much more that they can do or would be willing to do.

Can they do anything more than Kroger or P&G can do for Cincy? I'm guessing no.

At lot of folks assumed the Liberty Bowl owners would somehow assist us in our P5 quest. Those assumptions appeared to be erroneous.

So Earhardt wasn't at the meeting? The "smart guys" lied again? I was looking forward to June

Earhardt was in Phoenix.

He was on the radio last week when they announced this year's LB start time. Said he ate dinner the night before seated next to one of the
B12 ADs, either K State of Iowa St IIRC.

I'm guessing they are a great asset to have in our corner. However, I'm sure that they can't get us in on their own. Just a great piece to the overall proposal. Does Kroger and P&G have a great relationship with Cincy?

He's probably just as important as Fedex. But don't tell GA, it kills his agenda

Bill Laurie's voice also in this mix - I hope.

The public records request by the Cincy Observer referenced that the Kroger CEO was contacting Big XII presidents back in 2014. Not sure about P&G.

Good point and I sure hope so. But what can a rich citizen actually do?

I certainly wouldn't be above actually buying our way into the conference if that would actually work.

I don't recall the exact timing, but sometime during last season he was on the radio and the hosts asked him in an off handed way about Memphis and the Big 12. He mentioned having a great relationship and communicating frequently. The host then followed up asking about those conversations. His answer was along the lines of his perception and if he thought the current trajectory of winning and all that comes with it (assuming this means attendance, growing the fanbase...) was sustainable. IMO, he is a part of that networking, relationship building group and has been a part of the vetting process.
