Isn't it Fox and ESPN? Fox tier 1.

ESPN and FOX "share" the Big 12 Football TV Contract while ESPN owns all of Big 12 Basketball (this was before FOX Sports)

And ESPN contols UT's 3rd tier while Fox controls OU. Kansas and West Virginia sold their 3rd tier rights to IMG who then resells them to various networks.

Good question....UCF has 6 commencements this weekend (Thur-Sat) so that's 6 different commencement speakers.

After today, UCF will have conferred over 294,000 degrees in their somewhat "short" history.

I feel good about ESPN pushing UCF. They get more people into Orlando which equals more money for Disney. Fox I have no idea. Espn pushed for UCF in the original Big East deal which was valued over $10 million per teamm

Actually you probably have it reversed. Right now there's little motivation for a cable operator in FL to carry FS1 for much money. Forget about FS2. If Fox gets UCF, that changes negotiations with central Florida area cable operators. More money for Fox, with the same operating budget means less money for ESPN. Fox is much more likely to steer the Big12 towards UCF than ESPN is.

You guys are reading too much into this hahahaha.

He probably accepted the invite for commencement speaker because he was already in town for the Invictus Games at ESPN Wide World of Sports. It starts this weekend. Prince Harry's plane and military accessory planes have been sitting on the OIA tarmac all week. Michelle Obama and former President Bush are going to be here today as well. I am sure this was a nice dinner with Dr. Hitt, but the main dinner he wants to attend is one with the prince, the first lady, and the former president tonight.

While that is a huge "international" event going on this week, ESPN President Skipper has spoken several times at UCF in the past...his previous latest was last year for DeVos Distinguished Speaker Series.

Most view being invited to speak at a Commencement a high honor...and I'm sure ESPN President Skipper viewed it as the same when offered by UCF.

With ESPN's Wide World of Sports complex...let alone Disney's (ESPN's parent company) huge resorts/parks in Orlando, Skipper actually is a very frequent visitor to the area.

Well, judging from the picture....... it does look like it was in Dr Hitt's home. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall. I'm sure conference realignment was brought up.

For a top flight speaker it is at least 6 months in advance to a year

UCF's greatest challenge is they are now up to 11 commencements (and growing per year)

Summer 2015: 2 Commencements
Fall 2015: 3 Commencements
Spring 2016: 6 Commencements

That's 11 different Commencement Speakers in one calendar year.

While most view it as an honor to be ask to speak, about 30% of all Universities pay for their speakers (Univ of Houston recently paid Matthew McConaughey $135,000 plus travel/expenses for a recent commencement address.

You Won't Believe How Much Some Commencement Speakers Get Paid

He has also spoken at our sports management school and is best friends with one of its founders. I don't think it was 6 months

That's a common practice for commencement speakers.

Except all the players from UNC have "honorary" degrees as well, as it turns out. UCF's degrees are earned. Big distinction.07-coffee3
