What a great thing! Kudos to HFA and HuskieBob for spearheading this.

FYI, NIU wants to dedicate the sculpture as part of the festivities for the 2017 home opener against Boston College. They have also requested that the pedestal be moveable so they can display the sculpture at special events.

I can't emphasize enough how much Renee Bemis has done to get this project going. Not only are we fortunate to have a sculptor of her immense talents, but Renee has been absolutely indispensable in pitching the project to NIU. Another individual that we want to thank is Alberta Solfisberg of the NIU Foundation. Alberta's support has been absolutely crucial in getting the project approved by NIU. Both Renee and Alberta are motivated by the love they had for Diesel. Thank you both!

You've got my money. My eyes are watering with anticipation of touching that elevated paw!

It's already been shared by Reddit's CFB twitter account, so hopefully that'll help.

We need to allow the foundry that will cast the sculpture (in bronze) 6 months...plus after that the sculpture will need the pedestal built & be placed. Our artist needs time to create this beautiful work of art too.

The process of all the approvals was lengthy but as HuskieBob said - thanks to Renee Bemis & Alberta Solfisberg - finally got all the oks we needed.

HuskieBob has posted 3 pictures of Renee's "sketch" of what the sculpture will look like under Memorial for Diesel - top of Important Threads section.

The "sketch" is modeled in clay & is small a foot or 2 tall is all - it is a rough work of what the sculpture will look like.

I think even as a rough work it looks absolutely amazing!

Hey guys I think this is awesome! Would anyone be offended if I made a donation? I am a Toledo graduate but I love dogs and always enjoyed seeing Diesel on TV. I figure good causes and donations are for good and can come from anyone.

Diesel sculpture would be the best way to replace pig dog. We would kill two birds with one stone.
