Paxton may start sooner than later
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...ple-think/

Quote:Elway said on Denver Sports 760 that Lynch may just prove himself ready to be an NFL starter this year.

“Is that going to happen tomorrow? Probably not, but you never know when it can happen,” Elway said. “We think he’s going to be ready quicker than a lot of people think.”

Unrelated, but also just noticed I missed my 10 year anniversary here last month. May have to go get a cupcake or a beer to celebrate...or both!!

The need to sit him at least half a season imo.

Paton came out early and really needed 1 more year of college.

Hopefully Sanchez plays very conservatively and that defense is still elite. That should help give Paxton more time.

I certainly hope this is true. The NFL is such a different animal from the NCAA that it's really hard to predict how players, particularly QB's, will adapt to the increased size, speed, and overall athleticism of the defenses.

RE: Paxton may start sooner than later
As bad as Peyton sucked last year, there shouldn't be much pressure on either QB. As long as the D is solid, all should work out fine. It will be interesting to see Paxton out there. He obviously isn't close to Peyton in his ability to read defenses/audible/etc. Even so, in the end Peyton had zero mobility and could barely throw the ball downfield.

Nope. I said it in the other Paxton thread before the news broke that this was going to hapoen. Kubiak, Elway and others know what they are doing and it's going to be much sooner than fake talent evaluators like McShay and Kiper think.

Who in the world said anything about McShay and Kiper? lol

I'm not sure what you think you are disagreeing with. He come out a year early and was running a spread and Jet offense.

The kid is going to need more then a few months of camp to make the transition to an NFL stater. If you honestly think Paxton is a week 1 starter, then you are in for a big disappointment.

I don't know why ANY tiger fan would want him to start week 1 other than ego.

He is going to play this year, just relax and let it happen as it should.

People all over the front range of Colorado that I know are liking what they are seeing in Paxton.

Sooner than later is their thought as well.

Go Paxton and the Broncos. 04-rock

Yep. One thing rookie QB's have to learn is to get rid of the ball fast. They have to learn that if they hold the ball too long they will get sacked, and sacked hard. Those NFL guys are so fast.

Everyone always says "they need to sit and learn" or "they need another year in college." Most people that I know in any field learn fastest and best when actually doing the job. Talking about it is one thing but going out and doing it is another. I love the way Peyton Manning did it-started from get-go. He broke INT record then turned out to be....ok lol

But the Colts I think won 3 games Peyton's rookie year. Cowboys won 1 with Aikman. They were rebuilds, so teams were OK with it.

Broncos are defending Super Bowl champs, be surprised if they push Paxton this year. Will be fun to watch.

Yeah he needs to use his athleticism like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson. He's not built like Cam so he'll need to be elusive and smart when he runs to make sure he doesn't take big hits.
